On Tuesday, Jason Constantine, a co-president within the Lionsgate Motion Picture Group, passed away at his Los Angeles residence following a prolonged battle with brain cancer. He was 55 years old.
For over two decades, Constantine has been associated with Lionsgate, starting his professional journey with their predecessor company, Trimark Pictures, where he served as an acquisitions director. This information was shared by the company based in Santa Monica.
At Lionsgate, he played significant roles in numerous flagship series based in Santa Monica, such as “John Wick” and “Saw”. He actively advocated for Lionsgate to acquire these franchises early on after viewing a concise concept short. Moreover, he was intimately linked with films like the Best Picture Oscar-winning “Crash” (2004), “Precious” (2009), and “Knives Out” (2019).
In a statement, Lionsgate praised Jason for his courageous spirit, innovative ideas, and exceptional ability to build strong relationships. They noted that he exemplified the highest standards of our studio and the industry as a whole. His career was grounded in values such as recognizing great ideas can emerge from anywhere, celebrating box office success with the entire team, and making bold and daring creative decisions.
Constantine is survived by his wife, Kristin, and his sons Lucas, Xander and Nicholas.
