CMAT fans are left devastated as she is forced to postpone her UK tour due to an infection: ‘I am in so much pain’

Irish singer CMAT has postponed her sold-out UK tour scheduled to begin on Thursday.

The performer, 29, whose name is Ciara Mary-Alice Thompson, explained that she is currently dealing with pain from an infected wisdom tooth.

She’s had to postpone all her performances scheduled for October, sharing that she woke up the day before the tour began with ‘throbbing pain in my jaw’.

I had to see my dentist urgently. He’s scheduled me for surgery to extract both of my lower wisdom teeth next week and also prescribed antibiotics to treat the infection, she explained.

After my surgery, I’ve been advised that I’ll need about two weeks to recover and heal. Then, there will be a brief additional time for me to fully regain my health.

‘We are working to reschedule dates and will provide information on this as soon as possible.

Your ticket is still good for the new dates. If you can’t attend on the rescheduled date, please get in touch with where you bought the ticket to request a refund.

CMAT expressed her apologies to her fans for any trouble caused, explaining that she’s currently unable to open her mouth sufficiently to sing.

She explained: ‘I understand this will create problems for many of you who may have already planned trips for these dates, and for that, I sincerely apologize. I am so, so sorry.’

I’d help if I could, but right now, I can barely open my mouth – I can’t even manage a laugh, much less sing.

I’m also unable to chew any food for quite a while, so if anyone has recommendations for ice cream and/or soup, I’d really appreciate it !!!

I’m experiencing intense pain at the moment, making it difficult to even type. Right now, I can only rest in bed, watching The Osbournes, and hoping to make things right with everyone soon. I truly love to sing ::((

Oh my gosh, it’s just… it’s just too much. I can’t believe my back two wisdom teeth are gone! They would have *loved* seeing Brixton Academy with me, I just *know* it. Honestly, so much love for those little guys, and even *more* love to Ciara (cmat) x x x x x. I’m absolutely devastated, but also sending all the love!

People reacted to the post with messages like: ‘I’m so upset and hope you feel better quickly…’ and ‘We’re looking forward to seeing you again – get well soon!’

At the start of her music career, CMAT independently released songs that were featured on BBC Radio 6.

Her first album, If My Wife Knew I’d Be Dead, came out in 2022 and topped the charts in Ireland, reaching the number one spot.

Her latest album, Euro-Country, released on August 29, reached number 2 on the UK albums chart.

CMAT performed at Glastonbury earlier this year and discussed her experiences with online fat shaming in an interview with the BBC.

She explained that every day, people post really negative and hurtful comments on her TikTok videos and other online content.

However, these individuals are publicly identifiable – they’re using their real names and faces. They are knowingly making harmful statements while simultaneously creating a permanent online record of their actions and opinions. They’re essentially attaching their identities to negative content, fully aware of the consequences.

‘I think a lot of people do it unaware that people are actually reading this stuff.’
