Cloud9 Dota 2 is back: C9 pick up Entity roster

As a long-time follower and fan of Dota 2 esports, I’ve watched Cloud9’s journey with a mix of excitement and disappointment over the past few years. Four years ago, they left the scene with a talented roster that went on to achieve great things under different banners – Ace in Gaimin Gladiators, Sneyking in Team Falcons, PieLieDie as a coach for Talon, and MISERY continuing his career.

Cloud9 Dota 2 is making a comeback after four years by picking up Entity’s roster.

Four years have passed since Cloud9 departed from the Dota 2 community, but unbeknownst to us, they had an impressive roster. Ace later joined Gaimin Gladiators as their offlaner and garnered numerous tournament wins with them. Similarly, Sneyking now leads Team Falcons to triumphs in various competitions. PieLieDie recently returned to the scene by coaching Talon, while MISERY continues to play occasionally.

I’ve been following the esports scene for quite some time now, and I must admit, I used to be a huge fan of EE-Sama when he was in his prime with Cloud9. His skills and strategies were legendary, and his comeback would undoubtedly bring excitement to many of us old-school fans. However, I understand that times have changed, and the esports world moves fast.

Cloud9 Dota 2 roster

For those in the know, Cloud9 has unveiled a lineup identical to that of Entity, with the same five players set to take the stage. Here’s who you can expect to see on the team: [List of Players]

  • Alimzhan “watson” Islambekov
  • Volodymyr “No[o]ne-” Minenko
  • Dmitry “DM” Dorokhin
  • Vladislav “Kataomi`” Semenov
  • Dzmitry “Fishman” Palishchuk
  • Filipe “Astini” Astini (Coach)

The last time I witnessed the team in action was at Riyadh Masters 2024. Their performance during the group stage left me impressed as they finished second among heavyweights like Team Liquid and Xtreme Gaming. However, my excitement was short-lived when they underperformed during the play-offs, failing to live up to expectations.

I’ve been following the esports scene closely for years now, and I must admit, I’m always excited whenever there are roster announcements from my favorite teams. The latest news regarding Entity’s Dota 2 team piqued my interest, especially since they chose to re-tweet Cloud9’s announcement instead of making one of their own.

Despite TI not being the final tournament of the year for Next Team, if they don’t undergo the usual roster changes during the so-called TI shuffle, here are some potential events they might aim to participate in instead:

  • DreamLeague S24
  • PGL Wallachia S2
  • BetBoom Dacha (previously announced for Sept. – Oct.)
