Clooney Braves Cold in Style for Colbert Chat Ahead of Broadway Debut!

On Tuesday, George Clooney made an appearance wearing only a light jacket as he entered the set of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert in cold New York City.

The 63-year-old Oscar winner seemed to be having trouble fastening his jacket due to the wind, with people around him, who were winter staff members, all dressed in warmer jackets for the cold weather.

But even if he was feeling the chill, Clooney didn’t betray it as he strutted into the studio.

Prior to his upcoming Broadway premiere of “Good Night, And Good Luck,” which is a stage adaptation of the 2005 movie of the same title that he had previously penned, directed, and starred in, he was scheduled for a pre-show conversation with Colbert.

The versatile individual donned a sleek, single-breasted navy-blue suit with pointed lapels, occasionally fastening it as he stepped onto the sidewalk.

He simplified his formal attire by wearing a black shirt, swapping out a tie for a black scarf to help shield him from the chilly wind.

George Clooney donned timeless black derby shoes and complemented his outfit with an understated, high-end watch featuring a sleek black leather band.

The actor-cum-filmmaker, known for his neat, salt-and-pepper hairstyle styled off-center, has been announced to take on the role of the iconic journalist Edward R. Murrow in the forthcoming stage production.

In the 2005 movie, David Strathairn starred as the main character, whereas Clooney appeared as a secondary character, CBS President Fred Friendly, and also handled duties behind the scenes.

The film, filmed in black-and-white, centered around Murrow’s investigations into Senator Joseph McCarthy’s baseless accusations of communist influence within the U.S. government. This led to a heated exchange between the two on Murrow’s CBS show, preceding McCarthy’s embarrassment at the Army-McCarthy hearings and his later reprimand by the Senate.

Notably, the stellar lineup boasted the presence of Robert Downey Jr., Jeff Daniels, Patricia Clarkson, Frank Langella, and Ray Wise, a familiar face from Twin Peaks.

Or simply:
The talented cast consisted of Robert Downey Jr., Jeff Daniels, Patricia Clarkson, Frank Langella, and Twin Peaks’ own Ray Wise.

George Clooney’s movie was highly successful at the cinema, generating $54.6 million in revenue while only costing $7 million to produce. It received six Academy Award nominations, but unfortunately, it didn’t win any.

Besides making his Broadway debut as the main character in Good Night, And Good Luck, Clooney also has a significant movie project on its way.

He is about to make his debut as part of the cast in the movie-drama-comedy titled Jay Kelly, which will be his initial experience working with director Noah Baumbach, known for his collaborations on the Barbie films.

George Clooney is set to join an extensive ensemble cast, which includes Adam Sandler, Laura Dern, Billy Crudup, Riley Keough, Jim Broadbent, Greta Gerwig (Baumbach’s wife), and Emily Mortimer. Together with Baumbach, they have collaborated on the screenplay for this project.

While specifics are yet to be disclosed, it’s known that the upcoming Netflix movie is said to be a story about growing up.

Netflix has yet to disclose its release plan for the remainder of this year, however, it has historically offered limited theatrical screenings for Noah Baumbach’s films before they become available on the streaming platform.

Before diving into my dream collaboration with Gerwig on Barbie, I’ve had the privilege of bringing to life some extraordinary projects. As a devoted admirer and filmmaker myself, I penned and directed the adaptation of White Noise from Don DeLillo, a project that held immense significance for me. I also created the Oscar-winning masterpiece, Marriage Story, and The Meyerowitz Stories, both for the esteemed Netflix platform. These experiences have been nothing short of life-changing for me as an artist.
