‘s hit crime drama The Mule is about to have a new streaming home.
According to reports, the 2018 film “The Mule” is set to join a list of other contemporary classics on the streaming platform, starting from May 1. This means that you’ll be able to stream “The Mule” on Netflix from this date.
In 2018, the movie titled “The Mule” hit theaters and became Clint Eastwood’s latest achievement. This film was inspired by the true story of Leo Sharp and stars Eastwood as Earl Stone, a character loosely based on Sharp who spent his post-military years as a gardener. However, when he encounters financial difficulties, the elderly war veteran receives an offer from the Sinaloa Cartel to work as a drug courier. Throughout the movie, Stone demonstrates remarkable skill in transporting vast amounts of drugs and money without attracting any law enforcement attention, until the DEA starts focusing on the unusual surge of narcotics in the Midwest.
The Mule Features an Ensemble Cast
In “The Mule,” Clint Eastwood is joined by a distinguished cast of actors, including Bradley Cooper portraying DEA Agent Colin Bates. The character Cooper plays was inspired by the real-life DEA Special Agent Jeff Moore, who arrested Sharp in 2011. The movie also includes Laurence Fishburne as Bates’ DEA supervisor Warren Lewis, Michael Peña as Bates’ partner Agent Trevino, Dianne Wiest as Stone’s estranged wife Mary, Alison Eastwood as Earl’s estranged daughter Iris, Taissa Farmiga as Earl’s granddaughter Ginny, Ignacio Serricchio as Earl’s cartel liaison Julio, and Andy García as Cartel leader Latón.
During its initial cinema release, the movie “The Mule” earned over $174 million, spending just $50 million in production costs. Despite boasting a powerful cast and attracting numerous theater-goers eager to watch it, “The Mule” received little recognition at prestigious industry award events. However, it did secure two nominations for the Golden Trailer Awards and several foreign honors acknowledging its work in categories such as Foreign Film, editing, and voice-over.
The Mule will be available for streaming on Netflix beginning May 1.
