Clayface Cast: Mickey 17’s Naomi Ackie Eyed for DCU Movie

Naomi Ackie is being eyed to star in the Clayface movie.

Upcoming DC Universe film titled Clayface is being helmed by director James Watkins. Scripted by Mike Flanagan and Hossein Amini, this movie features Tom Rhys Harries portraying the main antagonist, Clayface. It’s yet undecided if Batman will make an appearance in the film.

As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, discussions are underway for Ackie to feature in the role of Clayface. Last week, reading sessions were held in England, and it appears that Ackie is the top contender. It’s expected that official negotiations will commence this week, as suggested by multiple sources.

It is not clear who Ackie is being eyed to play at this time.

Actress Ackie has taken on various roles, such as Bonnie from The End of the World (and Other Possibilities) and Alicia in Master of None. In her film career, she’s appeared in movies like Lady Macbeth (2016), Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (2019), I Wanna Dance with Somebody (2022), Blink Twice (2024), Mickey 17 (2025), and Sorry, Babe (2025). Coming up soon on Netflix is The Thursday Murder Club, which will be available next month.

What else do we know about Clayface?

The article from Hollywood Reporter describes the plot of an upcoming movie titled Clayface. This film, reported to have a budget around $40 million, follows the journey of an up-and-coming actor whose face is disfigured by a ruthless gangster. In desperation, the actor seeks aid from a controversial scientist reminiscent of Elizabeth Holmes. Initially, the procedure appears successful; however, one wouldn’t expect a horror movie to wrap up that neatly, would they?

It’s anticipated that filming for Clayface will start within the next few months. Previously, James Gunn, one of the producers, mentioned that the movie would receive an R rating. Alongside Gunn, Lynn Harris, Peter Safran, and Matt Reeves are also involved in producing the project.

I’m thrilled to share that I’ll be witnessing the arrival of Clayface in U.S. theaters on September 11, 2026, graciously brought to us by Warner Bros. Pictures and DC Studios. Can’t wait!
