As an ardent fan of The Traitors, I can confidently say that Claudia Winkleman‘s passion for the show is as captivating as the series itself. Her journey, from initially turning down the offer to present the show due to family commitments, to becoming obsessed with the Dutch version and eventually taking on the role, is a testament to her dedication.

As a connoisseur of fine television, I must confess that I’ve got some thoughts brewing about the American adaptation of my beloved series, The Traitors. While it’s always exciting to see our cherished formats cross the pond, there’s something truly special about the original British version that just can’t be replicated elsewhere. It’s like comparing a fine wine from the vineyards of France with a decent imitation from California – both are enjoyable in their own right, but there’s an undeniable charm to the authentic article.

In the year 2023, I had the immense pleasure of winning my very first BAFTA award. This recognition came as a result of my hosting duties for an esteemed game show, a production that takes place within the enchanting Ardross Castle nestled in the Scottish Highlands.

The British adaptation of the show, titled “The Vow,” originated from the Dutch series “De Verraders” – prior to spin-offs being developed in the United States and Australia.

But Claudia revealed to The Sunday Times that there is a secret rivalry between her version and the US series, hosted by Scottish actor Alan Cumming.

Claudia mentioned that she and Alan collaborate on preparing presentation materials following filming sessions, yet neither of them watches the other’s shows due to feelings of territoriality.

She mentioned that Alan and she often leave messages for each other, but neither of them can watch content from the U.S., as we both tend to be very protective over our personal spaces.

It seems we both failed to comprehend his presence within my castle, as if you might ask, ‘Why is that mysterious lady with the orange hair, accompanied by my owl, in my castle?’

Claudia recently revealed to The Midpoint podcast that she initially turned down presenting the show because she didn’t want to spend more than three weeks filming in Scotland.

The star was offered the job but turned it down because she didn’t want to be away from her family.

However, upon viewing the original Dutch version, Claudia developed a strong interest or fascination, promptly composing an email to the BBC executives expressing her decision change.

Claudia, known for hosting Strictly Come Dancing, shared that she originally declined The Traitors due to her dislike of stepping away from her bed and children. They then asked if she would be willing to spend three and a half weeks in Scotland, to which she agreed.

‘And I was like “I don’t think so” and then I watched the Dutch version and I became so obsessed.

In my message to Kate Phillips, who is employed at the BBC and has kindly given me an opportunity for employment, I expressed my excitement by saying, “I’ve made reservations on a train, and I can’t stress enough how eager I am to take advantage of this chance,” as it’s a rare privilege to closely observe the intricacies of psychology and gameplay.

Last month, the BBC shared a first look at the brand new series of The Traitors and revealed the release date.

As a die-hard fan, I can’t contain my excitement! The much-anticipated new civilian series is here, and to make it even better, the Official visualized podcast, “Traitors Uncloaked,” hosted by the hilarious Ed Gamble, is back! After each episode of the main show on BBC Two and iPlayer, you’ll be able to dive deeper into the action with this fantastic podcast right away. I can hardly wait!

As a die-hard fan, I’m eagerly awaiting the BBC’s announcement regarding the cast of the 2025 season of Traitors and Faithfuls. The shoes the newcomers will have to fill are enormous, given the legendary characters from the last series like Diane Carson, the secretive mom, the cunning villain Paul Gorton, and last but not least, the ultimate winner, Harry Clarke. I can hardly wait to see who’ll step into their shoes!

In January, Harry secured the £95,000 prize from The Traitors show, having successfully deceived his fellow competitors, with Mollie Pierce finishing as a loyal runner-up.
