Claudia Winkleman had a night to remember at Tuesday’s Royal Television Society Awards.

At the prestigious ceremony held at London’s JW Marriott Grosvenor House Hotel, I had the privilege of receiving the Outstanding Achievement Award, shared with the talented host of Strictly Come Dancing – a moment I will cherish as a dedicated follower and contributor to our field.

On a significant evening, Claudia was accompanied by her husband, Kris Thykier who happens to be her producer. For the grand entrance on the red carpet, they coordinated their outfits in a charming manner.

53-year-old television personality exhibited her unique fashion flair in a crisp white blazer paired with a sleek black satin shirt and pants, while her partner, also 53, opted for a timeless tuxedo.

On a night where the BBC garnered 16 victories out of 29 categories, one of their prominent figures received the Outstanding Achievement Award, acknowledging her impressive career in the field of entertainment broadcasting and presentation.

Over the past couple of years, Claudia has experienced great triumphs, particularly with her popular series The Traitors. Notably, she’s also been in charge of Strictly Come Dancing for a full fifteen years.

Claudia and Kris got married back in June 2000, and since then they’ve had three lovely kids: Jake, aged 21; Matilda, 18; and the youngest, Arthur, who is 13 years old.

Before celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary this year, Claudia has shared insights on their enduring love, expressing her gratitude for being ‘extremely fortunate’.

In a revealing conversation, the presenter of Strictly Come Dancing shared insights about how Kris’ Danish ancestry shapes their bond, likening him to a bit of a fearless, seafaring Norseman – a Viking.

In conversation with The Sunday Times, she referenced a sentiment shared by Gwyneth Paltrow’s father, Bruce Danner, on the key to their long-lasting marriage.

Claudia commented: ‘Bruce Danner was questioned, “Haven’t you ever considered getting a divorce during your long marriage?” To which he replied, “Absolutely, but never at the same time.” That’s one of the best lines I’ve heard. I feel incredibly fortunate.’

She continued: “I can’t discuss much about Kris without making him ill, but he’s very Scandinavian in nature. His lifestyle isn’t just mine to manage; we share the responsibility.

He has never asked ‘What’s for dinner?’ Instead, he might say something like, ‘Should I make something for dinner?’ or ‘What are we having for dinner tonight?’ These are subtly distinct ways of asking about the evening meal.

Rather than asking when the children return to school, he prefers to look it up. The entire family tends to behave this way.

Recently, the duo has been collaborating more frequently due to Claudia’s decision to leave her previous talent agency, YMU, in July, and instead team up with Little Arrow, a business that Kris established.

Currently, Claudia is managing her hosting roles across three shows: the well-known programs Strictly Come Dancing, The Traitors, and The Piano.

Previously, she shared insights on maintaining a harmonious blend of her professional and personal life. In a humorous remark, she admitted that her spouse is more adept at parenting than she is.

In simpler terms, ‘If one of us has too much work, the other will step in to assist. He understands that around the time of the Strictly final, I become less productive, so he may handle buying gifts for our nephews and nieces during Christmas.’

She mentioned that when it comes to showing affection, it’s clear that Kris is undeniably more affectionate. In her words, “I wouldn’t consider myself a romantic, but he certainly is more romantic than I am – poor fellow!
