Classic Sylvester Stallone role has been recast with Netflix star for a new movie

Noah Centineo has landed the lead role in the upcoming Rambo prequel John Rambo.

As reported by Deadline, Chase Stokes is set to portray a youthful iteration of the famous battle-hardened veteran, a role previously filled by Sylvester Stallone in earlier adaptations.

As a die-hard fan, I’m excited about the upcoming film that promises to delve into the epic origins of my all-time favorite character, John Rambo. This time around, we’ll be transported back to the tumultuous days of the Vietnam War, where the story unfolds and sets the stage for the legend we know today. Can’t wait to see it!

The filming for this project will commence in Thailand next year, with Jalmari Helander from Sisu serving as the director.

In 1982, viewers met John Rambo for the first time in the film “First Blood,” which was based on David Morell’s book of the same title. The story unfolds as Rambo is apprehended by a harsh sheriff in a small town in Washington while passing through.

Following intense torture at the hands of government officials, Rambo grapples with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder stemming from his wartime ordeals and manages to escape confinement. Hot on his heels is the entire town, leaving Rambo, a seasoned veteran, to take them on single-handedly in a fierce battle.

After the massive hit of “First Blood,” I found myself stepping back into the boots of John Rambo for an impressive four sequels. Yet, it seems I won’t be returning for the prequel series.

Centineo garnered widespread recognition for portraying the charming character, Peter Kavinsky, in the popular Netflix series titled “To All the Boys I Loved Before“.

Ever since then, I’ve had the privilege of leading the espionage series “The Recruit,” shared the screen with Dwayne Johnson in “Black Adam,” and taken on a role in Ray Mendoza and Alex Garland’s “Warfare.” What a thrilling journey it’s been!

In the upcoming live-action adaptation of Street Fighter, he is set to assume the character of Ken Masters. This production will also star Jason Momoa and Andrew Koji.
