Classic Picard tea cups from Star Trek: the Next Generation are returning

As a long-time Star Trek enthusiast and ardent Captain Picard fan, this news has me beaming with excitement! Ever since I watched The Next Generation for the first time, I dreamt of sipping Earl Grey from a cup that mirrored Picard’s own. Now, with these limited edition Picard Cups coming back into production, my dreams are finally becoming reality (or at least, one step closer).

Tea. Earl Grey. Hot. That was on oft-used phrase whenever Captain Picard [Patrick Stewart] entered his ready room aboard the Enterprise. Earl Grey tea was his favorite beverage, and he drank it from a unique tea cup which wasn’t created by The Next Generation art department. Instead, the team used a modern twentieth-century design which was made by a European homewares company, Bodum.

Crafted with a sleek black plastic band and coordinating handle, this sophisticated cup is constructed from heat-resistant borosilicate glass – an ideal addition to Captain Picard’s recent dilemma or contemplation. These cups can be spotted in Star Trek: Voyager and Star Trek: Picard. Originally accessible for public purchase, these coveted cups were unfortunately discontinued in 2016. However, they are now set for a temporary return to the market.

A collection of four Star Trek-themed cups, emblazoned with logos from Master Replicas, Bodum, and Star Trek themselves, can be pre-ordered on masterreplicas.com at $54.99. These sets are expected to ship in February 2025. As there’s no clear timeframe for how long these cups will be offered, if you’re keen on sipping your tea from a Picard-themed mug, it would be wise to place your order promptly.

Picture yourself mulling over your upcoming adventure, sipping tea (or coffee) from a cup resembling those Captain Picard used. Dress in your Starfleet attire and snap a photo worthy of Instagram, or bring it with you to the next convention when you meet Patrick Stewart! These cups will be available on the official Bodum website, though they are not yet up for pre-order at this time.
