1980s detective show “Murder, She Wrote” has found its new streaming platform in preparation for the upcoming reboot.
For 12 seasons, starting from 1984 and ending in 1996, the well-known show had Angela Lansbury playing the dual roles of writer and amateur detective Jessica Fletcher.
Good news for fans eager to follow the series! Part of the initial season can currently be streamed on Channel 5. However, since they’re gradually being taken down, make sure you catch them soon before they disappear over the coming weeks.
The series centers on Fletcher, a character known for solving murders in the town of Cabot Cove, often proving more astute than the investigators assigned to those cases.
The character was referred to as an exceptional detective by The Boston Globe, who described her as logically sharp like Sherlock Holmes, endearingly charming like Columbo, and adorable as Julia Child. Meanwhile, Entertainment Weekly praised the show for its abundant appeal.
A new film adaptation of “Murder, She Wrote” is being developed right now, and it’s been confirmed that Academy Award winner Jamie Lee Curtis will be assuming the character of Fletcher, which was originally played by the late Angela Lansbury.
The star shared with Entertainment Tonight that “it’s about to happen”. They said, “We’re almost there. And we are incredibly eager. Incredibly eager, but I’m trying to keep my excitement in check until we begin filming. There are a few other things I need to take care of first, and then I’ll be able to fully embrace the work.
The upcoming “Murder, She Wrote” series is being penned and overseen by Rebecca Angelo and Lauren Schuker Blum, who are well-known for their work on “Orange Is the New Black”.
In 2023, it was confirmed by them to Collider that they had crafted a movie adaptation of “Murder, She Wrote” for Universal, and they were genuinely thrilled about it.
Angelo emphasized that it was now time for Fletcher to come back, playfully hinting, “She’s working with Pascal Pictures and Universal, and we can’t wait to bring Jessica Fletcher to the silver screen!
