Clash Royale Tower Troops Guide: Introduction, Upgrading, List of Cards, and more

As a seasoned Clash Royale player with years of experience under my belt, I must admit that the introduction of Tower Troops in the December 2023 update was a game-changer for me. These defensive troops, stationed on top of Crown Towers, have added a new layer of depth and strategy to the game.

The long-awaited Tower Troops have made their debut in Clash Royale starting from the December 2023 update. According to the Clash Royale 2024 roadmap, this new card type was set to join the game. Now, players can enjoy and experiment with these fresh additions. In this Tower Troops Guide, I will walk you through the gameplay alterations and potential strategies for utilizing these new troops effectively in Clash Royale.

Clash Royale Tower Troops Guide: Overview

Introduction

In Clash Royale, Tower Defenders serve as a new type of troop. You can access them from the Cards section, where your collection is typically located. What sets these troops apart is their defensive role; they are positioned atop your Crown Towers to strengthen your defenses.

An intriguing aspect is that your adversary remains unaware of your Tower Troops’ existence until the battle commences. Simultaneously, we have renamed the Princess Towers as Crown Towers.

Abilities

Each Tower Troop unit contributes its own special skill to your Clash Royale gameplan, giving your strategy a distinctive character. Like your standard cards, Tower Troops have varying rarities and can be organized based on that. In addition to your normal battles, Tower Troops occupy a designated slot in your Battle Deck, as they are essential components of it. You’re able to substitute them with other cards once they’ve been deployed.

Collecting and Upgrading

As a devoted fan, I’d describe it this way: When it comes to enhancing my Tower Troops, I use a mix of unique cards and hard-earned gold. Obtaining those special Tower Troop cards is an exciting experience, only found within the treasure trove of Tower Troop Chests. However, wild cards and magic books don’t factor into Tower Troop upgrades. Instead, I employ magic coins to help cover some of the gold costs for the upgrades.

As a long-time player of strategic card games, I’ve come to understand the intricacies of tower defense mechanics, and one thing that has always struck me is the rule regarding Tower Troops and their leveling. Having witnessed countless battles, I can tell you that this rule adds an essential layer of balance to the game.

List of Tower Troops in Clash Royale

The newest addition to our Tower Troop is named “The Cannoneer,” making it the first of your new cards debuting in 2024 and the second overall. Introduced with the January 2024 update, or Season 55, this epic card unleashes Cannon balls directly towards opponents, inflicting significant damage upon them.

3. Dagger Dutchess

In the April 2024 release for Clash Royale’s Season 58, the Dagger Dutchess made her entrance as the second new Tower Troop of the year and the third overall. With an impressive amount of hitpoints, this single-target troop wields daggers as her weapon. At first, she hurls a rapid succession of dagger throws causing substantial damage. However, her attack power decreases as she runs out of ammunition to reload.
