Clash Royale Skeleton Barrel Evolution best decks guide

The popular game, Clash Royale, keeps introducing thrilling updates, and the latest one is the “Season 73 ‘Dress to Empress’ Update” for July 2025. This update has added a new version of the Skeleton Barrel, known as the Skeleton Barrel Evolution. Given the increasing use of this evolved Skeleton Barrel in the game, this guide will showcase the top decks I’ve found effective in Clash Royale.

Best Skeleton Barrel Evolution decks to use in Clash Royale

In its updated form, the Skeleton Barrel maintains its fundamental purpose but adds a surprising element. This revamped model transforms into a cunning and potent weapon that can overpower adversaries swiftly because it splits into two barrels when activated. When its health drops to 25%, one of the barrels prematurely detaches, and each barrel unleashes seven skeletons upon impact.

This feature becomes particularly lethal when combined with tactics like swarming or luring. Just as with any evolution, this variant becomes active every three cycles. Given this fresh danger, let’s examine some top decks that can effectively exploit it.

1. Skeleton Barrel, Spirit Empress, Mortar, Goblin Gang, Knight, Fireball, Log, Spear Goblins

Average Elixir Cost: 3.4

I recently went over the strategy for this card deck with the Spirit Evolution manual. This deck is designed for fast cycling and offers several benefits. The Mortar and the recently incorporated Skeleton Barrell will serve as your primary win conditions, while at the same time consistently annoying your opponent.

Strategy involves consistently attacking with two units, making your adversary perpetually defend them. As other cards enter the game, a knight takes the lead while Goblin Gang and Spear Goblins act as bait to use up their spells. You’ll utilize Fireball and Log to eliminate swarms or heavy-hitting enemies, creating a balanced deck setup. Here’s the deck layout:

Deck Name: Balanced Beatdown

Cards:
1. Knight (9)
2. Goblin Gang (8)
3. Spear Goblins (4)
4. Fireball (4)
5. Log (3)
6. Zap (2)
7. Rocket (3)
8. Ice Spirit (1)
9. Miner (5)
10. Inferno Tower (7)
11. Tesla (5)
12. Elixir Collector (5)
13. Skeletons (1)
14. Musketeer (6)
15. Archers (3)

2. Skeleton Barrel, Royal Recruits, Mighty Miner, Tesla, Bomber, Guards, Arrow, Goblin Gang

Average Elixir Cost: 3.6

This deck is built around a powerful control strategy that excels when defenses are disabled and switched to offenses. Skeleton Barrel harmonizes wonderfully with Royal Recruits, serving as an effective offensive-defensive duo. Meanwhile, Mighty Miner offers versatile support, particularly in conjunction with Recruits for critical offense and defense. Tesla and Bomber are key components that efficiently handle both airborne and ground assaults.

Security personnel and Goblin Squad offer budget-friendly defensive assistance and reinforcements. For magical abilities, I think Arrow spells would be beneficial, perhaps to eliminate large groups which is a vulnerability for this deck setup, ensuring your offensive remains uncluttered. This deck has a more leisurely pace, but when it gains traction, it becomes difficult to halt its progress. Give this deck a try here.

3. Skeleton Barrel, Mega Knight, Goblin Drill, Arrows, Goblin Gang, Bats, Wall Breakers, Inferno Dragon

Average Elixir Cost: 3.5

As a gamer, I opted for a deck that boasts a powerful evolution beyond Barrel, and that’s the Mega Knight for me. The Skeleton Barrel syncs beautifully with Wall Breakers and Goblin Drill, forming a potent three-pronged attack cycle that puts my opponent in a tough spot, as they struggle to defend all lanes simultaneously. My heavy push is backed by the Mega Knight.

As a fan, I’d say I’ve found Inferno Dragon to be quite effective against tanks, and when paired with MK (Mega Knight), it becomes even deadlier! Similar to other decks, Bats and Goblin Gang offer additional assistance and support. Arrows help eliminate swarming troops that might slow down your offensive pushes. All in all, this deck seems well-balanced, so I’d encourage you to give it a try!
