Merge Tactics is launching its October 2025 update for Clash Royale, starting with a brand new seasonal reset. This reset, previously referred to as the “Seasonal Starsteel reset,” will be the first of its kind.
Over the next two months, we’re adding a lot of fresh content, including new units, character traits, and two powerful new Rulers. We’re also refining the game with improved visuals, smoother gameplay, and adjustments to keep things balanced. Here’s a closer look at everything coming up.
Clash Royale Merge Tactics October 2025 update and Season details
Merge Tactics Seasonal Reset
Clash Royale is making Merge Tactics a regular, monthly event! Each month, your progress in Merge Tactics – including your trophies and position on the Merge Road – will reset. These monthly events will kick off just before each new Clash Royale season and will feature fresh rewards, powerful Rulers, gameplay modifiers, unique skins, and other exciting content.

At the end of each season, you’ll get a badge that shows your highest rank, letting everyone see how far you’ve come. The first season reset starts on September 29th, so get ready to start climbing the ranks again!
New Rulers: Goblin Queen and Elixir Loong
Two new leaders are being introduced, while October will only get one. The developers are bringing back the Goblin Queen, who was previously available in a game mode last year. This time, instead of her usual setup with Journey and Baby Goblins, she’ll be a board leader with a special ability called Greener Grin, which has a 40% chance to create a Goblin.

Elixir Loong is a new character with a design reminiscent of the Spirit Empress’s dragon, but with a golden color scheme. His special ability, Endless Spring, provides an extra Elixir each turn and increases the team size by one.
New Troops

Seven new troops are now available in the Merge Tactics, split into three elixir categories.

Musketeer | 3 | Noble, Blaster | Tanky gunner who pushes back 3 enemies after a few hits |
Baby Dragon | 4 | Fire, Blaster | Burps fireballs dealing splash damage in a wide area |
Electro Wizard | 4 | Electric, Mage | Shoots lightning, stunning multiple enemies every few seconds. |
Witch | 4 | Undead, Avenger | Summons Skeletons with 50% of her stats every few seconds |
New Traits
The Traits have also been updated, which sees some new additions.

New Modifiers

Merge Tactics is getting some fresh updates to its Modifiers! These special effects will now change every season, and different Modifiers will appear in battles depending on the league you’re playing in.

Note: * indicates a new modifier, the rest are already existing in the game.
Several new gameplay modifiers will be available in November, including Swift Tile, One Punch, Mystery Shop, and Devil Snap.

We’ve updated the soldiers and their abilities, and even adjusted how some abilities function.

This season brings a lot of exciting new character skins, including Astral Empress, Malevolent Queen, and Royale King. Plus, keep an eye out for Aqua Loong, which will be available with the November update and the new Ruler character. Each of these skins also features unique confetti visual effects!
