Clash Royale heads back to the past with new (yet old) Retro Royale mode
- Clash Royale is taking things back to 2017 with the new Retro Royale Mode
- Available for a limited time from March 12th to the 26th, it offers exciting new rewards
- Climb the 30 step ladder to nab Gold and Season Tokens
Yesterday, I mentioned that Supercell’s decision to eliminate Troop Training times in Clash of Clans underscores their ability to stay relevant by consistently updating their flagship games. Interestingly, it appears that this strategy isn’t limited to Clash of Clans, as Supercell is taking steps to make Clash Royale resemble its 2017 version for its latest anniversary celebration!
The recently announced Retro Royale mode, showcased in a trailer, appears to transport players back to when the game initially launched, featuring the original meta and card set. This limited-time event runs from March 12th to the 26th. In this mode, you’ll need to select from a restricted collection of 80 cards as you ascend the Retro Ladder and engage in battles for unique prizes. As you progress up the ladder’s 30 rungs, you’ll earn Gold and Season Tokens.
As you move higher in the game, the competition becomes more intense because once you enter the Competitive League, your initial position will be determined by your progress on Tropy Road. Then, it’s all about showcasing your enduring skills in Retro Royale, so keep striving to improve your ranking on the leaderboard.
Royale decree
It’s quite ironical that my last piece discussed Supercell striving to keep their releases contemporary, yet they introduced a retro mode shortly after. However, there’s a distinction between something appearing outdated and evoking nostalgia; with the incentives provided, it’s tough to understand why players wouldn’t be eager to dive in and give it a try.
Additionally, make sure to participate in both Retro Ladder and the Competitive League at least once, as doing so will earn you a unique badge for each completion.
