Clash of Clans Town Hall 18 Update: Everything We Know So Far

In a nutshell, “Clash of Clans” is consistently changing, with frequent updates that bring in fresh elements and alter the tactics employed by gamers as they navigate through this intriguing world.

The kind of update that keeps players on tenterhooks the most is the introduction of new levels for the Town Hall. Right now, Town Hall 17 is the highest level, and everyone’s anticipation is focused on what comes next – the upcoming level, Town Hall 18.

Supercell tends to keep quiet about specifics regarding forthcoming updates, usually revealing details just before they go live. Nevertheless, for Town Hall 18, we’ve picked up on a few subtle clues that offer some insight into what might be in store.

Town Hall 18 May Be Released at the End of 2025

Supercell has previously indicated that there’s approximately a year-long gap between each Town Hall level update. Given that Town Hall 17 came out on November 25, 2024, it’s likely we might see Town Hall 18 towards the end of 2025. However, there’s also a possibility for the new Town Hall level to debut earlier than that or even during the early months of 2026.

The Hammer Jam event serves as a useful signpost. Here’s why: Typically, this unique gathering takes place a week prior to the launch of a fresh Town Hall level. During this period, players enjoy a 50% reduction in costs for all Home Village buildings and upgrades. This discount gives players an opportunity to stay current with the upcoming improvements.

What New Troops & Buildings Will be Added?

Fresh troops and structures are guaranteed to appear in this Town Hall update. Nevertheless, the specifics about how each one will materialize remain vague.

It seems that in Town Hall 18, we anticipate the introduction of an Elixir Troop, as a new Dark Elixir unit, referred to as Furnace, was recently added to Clash of Clans during the Clash Anytime update in March this year. Given that Supercell usually doesn’t release two Dark Elixir troops consecutively, it’s plausible we won’t see another one immediately following the Furnace.

From my perspective as a dedicated player, it’s intriguing to speculate about the evolution of our village’s buildings. Historically, Supercell has expressed reservations over the “soft limit” of 100 Buildings in the Home Village. Their recent actions suggest a gradual easing of this constraint, as demonstrated by the elimination of excess Barracks, shrinking Hero Altars, and the innovative Defense Merging feature’s introduction.

While we’ve discussed several points, it’s possible that new Buildings might appear (either as part of the Base Defense or another structure). However, if no new buildings are introduced, there could be an adjustment to the Merging mechanic instead.

Will A New Hero Be Introduced in Town Hall 18?

During a Reddit Ask Me Anything session prior to Town Hall 15’s launch, Supercell explained their thought process regarding the addition of a new character (Hero). They indicated:

We would like to add new Heroes in the future but we also have to keep “simplicity” in mind on how many things need to be deployed for each attack. […] Does it fill a specific niche? We’ve got a tank, we’ve got two ranged Heroes, and a flying one that is also a support one. Do we want a new Hero to be purely air based? Is that even necessary or does it fit within the game mechanics to make it enjoyable? Couple that with the additional factors of base design, we don’t want to add too many Heroes too quickly.

Looking back now, it’s clear that what was said then remains true today in the world of Clash of Clans. I, as a passionate player, can see that Supercell is thoughtfully avoiding the addition of new heroes simply because they prefer to maintain the game’s balance rather than hastily introducing a new character.

It seems clear that a new feature or significant upgrade would need to be included with Town Hall 18 for it to be added. If such an update occurs, it increases the likelihood significantly that a new hero character may be introduced.
