The Totem Spell is the tenth spell added to the main village in Clash of Clans. You can unlock it at Town Hall 16 after upgrading your Spell Factory to level 9.
The in-game description for the Totem Spell is as follows:
Hey, look over there! Distract ground and air Defenses by dropping a Totem Spell. Nearby enemies will focus their attack on the Totem, taking the heat off other troops. Forged from dense cosmic rock, the Totem also damages and stuns the area in which it lands.
This Elixir Spell can draw enemy troops and defenses away, creating an opening for your army to attack and inflict major damage. It’s a great addition to any army, particularly when facing strong defenses that make it difficult to achieve a three-star victory.
How the Totem Spell Works in Clash of Clans
The Totem Spell is an area-of-effect attack that can be used anywhere on the battlefield. When activated, it damages both ground and air units and defenses with a totem, and briefly stuns them for a very short time – just 0.2 seconds.
The summoned totem is very durable, with a large amount of health, making it good at taking damage. As a point of reference, a Level 1 totem has about the same health as a Level 14 Golem.
The Totem Spell is most effective when used to create a distraction. It excels at pulling attention away from strong enemies or defenses that are hindering your army. By diverting their focus, you can then concentrate your forces and other spells to defeat or significantly weaken them.
Stats & Upgrade Costs for the Totem Spell
You’ll be able to create the Totem Spell once you’ve upgraded your Spell Factory to Level 9. Because it uses Elixir, upgrading the spell itself will require more Elixir.
But first, let’s take a look at the Totem Spell’s stats in Clash of Clans:
