Supercell recently released an update on the current state of Clash of Clans as of March 2026. While this isn’t a new in-game version, it details upcoming plans, including adjustments to game balance and significant updates to features like Clan War Leagues and the Legend League.
Discussing the Town Hall 18 and Meteor Golem meta
The developers have revisited the current state of Town Hall 18 and found the gameplay to be unbalanced. They’ve described it as ‘polarized’ because the Meteor Golem has become overly dominant, overshadowing other troops and limiting strategic variety at the highest Town Hall level. Essentially, players are relying on just one effective army composition.
Supercell has released several updates to balance the game. The initial update didn’t make a big difference, but the second one successfully encouraged players to use a wider variety of troops. This has created a more diverse gameplay environment where many different strategies can now be effective, rather than being limited to just a few.
So, the developers are being really open about the fact that the game isn’t perfectly balanced just yet. They’ve noticed that some units are still a little too strong, and a few others are outperforming what they expected. But they’ve said they’re going to fix things with lots of small adjustments over time, instead of making huge, sweeping changes all at once. As a player, that sounds great – I’d much rather see steady improvements than a bunch of disruptive updates!
The Dragon Duke is a recent addition to the game and is quickly becoming popular, so Supercell is watching how players use it before making any changes. The next update will also include improvements to the Dragon and Yeti, along with a few other units.
CWL expansion aims to fix progression issues
Our team has noticed that Clan War Leagues are becoming more crowded. As the game expands with new Town Hall levels and more players, the middle leagues are feeling particularly full.
Different clans excel at different things, leading to uneven progress in Clan War Leagues. To fix this, we’re adding four new leagues to the CWL ladder, creating a more balanced competition.
We’re updating the clan system to create more balanced leagues that accurately represent clan strength. This will also make it easier for players to progress and will change how rewards are given out. We expect most clans will see a positive impact, with fairer rewards thanks to a more balanced competition ladder.
Legend League is getting a more competitive structure
The team believes the current Legend League doesn’t quite capture the excitement and challenge players expect from elite competition. It currently feels too uniform, making it hard to truly feel a sense of advancement at the very top.
To make things better, Legend League is changing to a system with several different levels. Instead of being stuck in one rank, players will now be able to keep improving and climbing higher within the league.
Ultimately, this will result in a dedicated group of roughly 10,000 players. We want to make top-level competition feel more rewarding, organized, and clear in terms of how players advance.
Ranked mode and quality-of-life improvements
The team is still working on Ranked Mode. Updates in January and February helped improve how the game feels and reduced the amount of repetitive play needed to progress, but now they’re concentrating on making Ranked Mode easier to understand and use.
We’ve made several improvements, including a refreshed user interface, easier-to-understand performance stats during tournaments, more detailed battle logs, and a smoother system for moving up or down in ranks. These changes are designed to make Ranked play more enjoyable and easier to track your progress.
We’ve made a quality-of-life improvement that lets you use your Heroes and Pets in practice battles even while they’re being upgraded. This makes it easier to try out different strategies and practice without having to wait for upgrades to finish.
