- Clash of Clans teased a major new social feature focused on connecting players globally.
- The discussion strongly hinted at a possible replacement for the old Global Chat system.
- Inside the Builder’s Hut Episode 4 also covered ores, Ranked Mode, and event pacing.
Supercell might be bringing back a global chat feature to Clash of Clans, or something similar to replace it. In the latest episode of ‘Inside the Builder’s Hut,’ Clash of Clans General Manager Sabrina discussed improving how players connect with each other, and her comments suggest a global chat could be returning to the game.
The presentation felt more like an update on their current projects than a formal presentation, and it didn’t include any slides or visuals. However, it was clear they’re prioritizing building a stronger sense of community, with Sabrina mentioning they are working on something to help people connect with each other around the world.
Clash of Clans social features are getting a major focus
Sabrina shared her enthusiasm for improving the social aspects of Clash of Clans when Community Manager Ferri asked about ways to boost clan life and interaction. She explained that she’s particularly passionate about these social systems and clans within the game, which was a promising start to the conversation.
It’s surprising how rarely we’ve heard the word “globally” lately – has it been six years, or even longer? The fact that it was mentioned so often in that segment suggests something significant is likely coming.
This is likely the first time Clash of Clans developers have publicly addressed the removal of Global Chat, which happened in 2019. Many players remember Global Chat fondly – it let you connect with people from all over the world, find new clanmates, and take a break from base building.
Over time, Global Chat became overrun with spam, scams, and inappropriate content, creating problems for moderators. Because of these issues, Supercell removed it completely in September 2019. While there was discussion about potentially bringing it back around 2023, those plans didn’t materialize.
We’re finally seeing some real progress. I’ve called it a “global chat-like” feature because I don’t think they’re planning to completely restore the old system, though it might be connected to it. For now, let’s just watch how things develop.
Discussions surrounding Ranked Mode, ores, and game pacing
I was really excited to hear Sabrina say that the team is focusing on making the ore economy better! It sounds like they’re also thinking about players like me who took a break and want to jump back in without feeling super behind. That’s awesome!
The developers have been heavily focused on Ranked Mode, acknowledging that the current system can be quite stressful for players. They’ve announced that they’re already working on further improvements following the April Ranked update.
