Claire Sweeney shared a cheerful video on Instagram on Wednesday, appearing positive despite the recent loss of her ex-partner, Ricky Hatton, who passed away almost two months ago.
Former Brookside actress Claire Sweeney, 54, shared a story with her fans about accidentally washing her AirPods in the washing machine. Surprisingly, they still worked after a full 60-minute cycle!
She shared with her followers that after searching everywhere for her earbuds, she found them inside the washing machine – right after finishing a load of laundry!
She glanced at the camera with a slightly embarrassed look and added, ‘They’ve run the machine through a complete wash cycle, and you won’t believe it – it’s still working!’
I’m absolutely amazed! I accidentally put my AirPods through a whole wash cycle, and unbelievably, they still work! I’m seriously over the moon about it.
I was using the ‘Find My’ app on my phone to locate something, and it kept leading me to the kitchen, even though I was searching all over the apartment.

Oh my gosh, she was SO cute! She just seemed totally speechless for a second, and then she blurted out, ‘And I was like, I’ve looked EVERYWHERE… even in the washing machine, seriously!’ It was the most adorable thing ever, honestly. I can’t even believe she checked the washing machine – she’s just so relatable!
This post follows Claire’s recent tribute to her late ex-boyfriend, Ricky, which included a photo shared on what would have been his 47th birthday.
She shared a photo of the boxer on Instagram and wished him a happy birthday with a prayer and a heart emoji.
Former boxing champion Ricky Hatton was found dead at his home in Hyde, Greater Manchester, on September 14th. His friend and manager, Paul Speak, discovered him.
Claire and Ricky began dating in early 2024 after appearing on the ITV show Dancing On Ice, but they decided to remain friends when their romantic relationship ended.
I just knew it! She’s still totally hung up on Ricky, I could feel it. Like, last month she was out shopping with Jaxon, her son, and she had to mention Ricky on Instagram! It’s obvious she’s always thinking about him, even now. I swear, I’m telling you, they’re meant to be!
The pair were captivated by an Only Fools and Horses toy that recreates a famous scene from the show. The toy features a Del Boy figure falling through the bar, just like in the episode starring David Jason that originally aired in 1989.
‘Ricky would love that,’ Claire said.

The popular boxer passed away only three months before he was scheduled to fight again in Dubai.
Police aren’t investigating his death as suspicious, and his funeral took place at Manchester Cathedral on October 10th.
Claire paid tribute to Ricky a few days after his death.
The actress shared a video tribute set to Elvis Presley’s ‘If I Can Dream,’ explaining she needed some time to come to terms with the sad news about her close friend, Ricky.
Claire expressed her deepest sympathy to his family, particularly his children – Campbell, Millie Fearne, and Lyla – and his granddaughter.
I’m so sorry to hear about Speaky. To him and all who loved him, please accept my heartfelt condolences. Ricky, you were a true favorite, and we all adored and cherished you. We’ll always love you.
