Claire Sweeney and Ricky Hatton endure miserable weather as they rub shoulders with Paddy McGuinness at BBC Radio 2 In The Park – after torrential rain turned it into a mudbath

As an ardent fan who has witnessed the fascinating tapestry of life unfold through the lens of celebrity, I can confidently say that Claire Sweeney and Ricky Hatton are making magic happen! Their journey from a chance meeting on Dancing on Ice to sun-kissed getaways and family introductions is nothing short of enchanting.

Even torrential rain couldn’t keep Claire Sweeney and Ricky Hatton indoors as they attended BBC Radio 2 In The Park on Sunday. 

Under challenging circumstances at Preston’s Moor Park, the duo enjoyed performances by artists such as Pet Shop Boys, Manic Street Preachers, Sister Sledge, and Paul Heaton, a notable figure from both Housemartins and The Beautiful South.

On Instagram, Coronation Street actor Sweeney (age 53) posted videos of the entertainers and was spotted mingling with another attendee, Paddy McGuinness.

The actress found humor in the situation and filmed it too, capturing the 45-year-old man struggling through mud to find a restroom on Hatton’s account.

Captioning the clip of his unsteady walk across a sodden field, she joked: ‘When you gotta go…’  

I proudly stand as a devoted admirer, having just witnessed Sweeney confirm her unwavering support for Hatton. The recent news of his induction into the Boxing Hall of Fame serves as further testament to my belief in his exceptional skills and enduring legacy within the sport.

She posted a video of Hatton discussing his achievement, saying in her message: “Extremely proud of you, my dear, heading to the USA for induction into the Boxing Hall of Fame.

Reflecting on my recent accomplishment, I must admit that I once believed my days of receiving awards were behind me. But then, I did something extraordinary, and now I have priceless memories, an MBE, and thought that was the end of it all. However, when I received the call about being inducted into the Boxing Hall of Fame, it was a completely unexpected and profound shock.

I’ve recently realized that I see myself as a native of the Hattersley estate. To maintain my grounded nature, I strive to stay humble, and that’s why I tend to feel awkward when discussing such topics.

I gratefully receive this accolade, acknowledging each collaborator who’s journeyed with me on this path. There are far too numerous individuals to name, but my gratitude extends to every single one of them, along with all the supporters who’ve cheered me on.

Sweeney and Hatton became friends following their stint on Dancing On Ice in January, and more recently, they were seen returning from a romantic vacation in Tenerife as a pair.

Hatton disclosed that the two were as close as ever, almost like they had never left each other, following their vacation.

Upon being inquired about my vacation by The Sun, I excitedly shared that it was fantastic! Much like myself, I’ve found a kindred spirit in Claire – we connect as if we’ve known each other for years.

‘Claire is very much alike to me, sharing a similar sense of humor that keeps us constantly laughing. To put it simply, she’s as easygoing as I am.’

Their sun-soaked getaway came just weeks after they made their red carpet debut in Manchester.

A trustworthy source has disclosed that Sweeney is considering introducing her family, including her 9-year-old son Jaxon, to the retired boxer, Hatton.

According to our source, Claire and Ricky have developed a strong bond. Initially, Claire wasn’t seeking a relationship, but when Ricky entered the picture, things seemed fitting and organic, and she’s now very content.

She enrolled in a reality TV show and encountered an exceptional man, making it seem somewhat like hitting the jackpot. She’s genuinely appreciative of her circumstances because everything unfolded unexpectedly, and such instances are typically the most rewarding.

Before my encounter with Hatton, I hadn’t gone on a date since Christmas 2023, and I playfully hinted that I might be emulating my grandmother’s path, as she supposedly found love at the ripe age of 86.

In 2017, she parted ways with Daniel Reilly, who is Jaxon’s father, after a prolonged relationship that lasted up until then.
