Claire Foy and Nicola Coughlan’s new movie based on beloved British classic gets first trailer

The first sneak peek at a new movie adaptation of a popular children’s book is here!

Okay, so I just heard about this new movie, The Magic Faraway Tree, and it sounds awesome! It’s based on the Enid Blyton book I remember reading as a kid. Andrew Garfield, Claire Foy, and Nicola Coughlan are all starring in it, and it’s hitting UK cinemas on March 27th. I’m definitely checking this one out!

I’m so excited about The Magic Faraway Tree! From what I’ve heard, it’s about Polly and Tim, played by Claire Foy and Andrew Garfield, and their three kids. They’re a regular family who have to move to the countryside, and it sounds like things get pretty magical from there!

What to Read Next

While settling into their new surroundings, the children stumble upon a magical tree and meet its unusual inhabitants, like the beloved Moonface (Nonso Anozie), Silky (Nicola Coughlan), Dame Washalot (Jessica Gunning), and Saucepan Man (Dustin Demri-Burns).

High in the branches of a magical tree, the family finds themselves in amazing and imaginative worlds. Through their exciting experiences, they begin to rediscover their connection and truly appreciate one another, something they haven’t felt in years.

The first trailer gives us a glimpse into the world of The Magic Faraway Tree, a story written by Simon Farnaby, who also worked on Paddington 2.

We meet Tim, Polly, and their children as they discover a magical world hidden within a tree during a family trip.

“We’re heading to a forest with incredibly beautiful trees,” Garfield’s Tim announced, though his children didn’t seem thrilled.

The film opens with charming scenes of the family settling into their new country life, transforming a dilapidated barn into a cozy home. They quickly meet the local townspeople, who caution the children to stay away from the nearby woods, describing it as magical but also home to mysterious and unusual beings.

Naturally, Fran – the middle child – doesn’t pay attention and suddenly finds herself in this gorgeous, storybook land! She’s immediately met by Silky, played by Coughlan, who shows her around and introduces her to all these amazing magical creatures. It’s like stepping right into a fairytale!

Okay, so Silky’s been showing me, Jo, Bessie, and Fanny all these amazing worlds The Faraway Tree can take us to, and honestly, they’re all incredible! Except… there’s this one land ruled by Dame Snap, and she’s played by Rebecca Ferguson, and let me tell you, that place is not fun. Seriously, avoid it if you can!

The film boasts a fantastic cast including Nonso Anozie, Jessica Gunning, Dustin Demri-Burns, Mark Heap, Oliver Chris, and comedy legends Sir Lenny Henry, Sir Michael Palin, Sir Simon Russell Beale, and Jennifer Saunders.

The Magic Faraway Tree is released in UK cinemas on March 27
