Claire Danes’ Netflix Show The Beast in Me Gets Hopeful Season 2 Update

Claire Danes’ new thriller, The Beast in Me, is a limited series that could be expanded into a full show. There’s already talk of a second season, even before the first season has been released.

Howard Gordon, the showrunner and executive producer of The Beast in Me, recently told TV Insider that he’s open to the idea of continuing the story. When asked about a sequel or follow-up series, he said, “Yes, I think there’s definitely potential for another story.”

Created by Gabe Rotter, with significant contributions from Erika Sheffer, C.A. Johnson, Daniel Pearle, Ali Liebegott, and Mike Skerrett, The Beast in Me centers on Aggie Wiggs, played by Claire Danes. Aggie is a talented author who withdraws from public life and stops writing after experiencing the tragic loss of her son.

When wealthy and famous real estate developer Nile Jarvis (played by Matthew Rhys) buys the house next door – a man previously suspected of his ex-wife’s murder – Aggie sees a promising story for her next book. But her investigation quickly leads her into a dangerous tangle of lies and secrets that could be impossible to unravel.

Gordon had worked with this actress before, and reuniting for The Beast in Me was thrilling. He said he “met” her and knew she was perfect for the role of Aggie. Finding someone to play Nile, however, proved much harder. He felt the biggest challenge in the show was creating a character who was both dangerous, charming, and surprisingly vulnerable.

The upcoming eight-episode series, The Beast in Me, features a strong cast including Natalie Morales as Aggie’s former spouse, Shelley, and Britanny Snow as Nile’s ex-wife, Nina. Joining them are Tim Guinee, Deirdre O’Connell, Hettienne Park, Aleyse Shannon, David Lyons, and Jonathan Banks. The Beast in Me will debut on Netflix on November 13th.

Rotte, Danes, Antonio Campos (the director), Daniel Pearle, Conan O’Brien, Jeff Ross, and David Kissinger worked with Conaco, while Caroline Baron and Jodie Foster joined Gordon as executive producers.

What’s Next for Claire Danes After Netflix’s The Beast in Me?

A new family drama called The Applebaum Curse is currently being developed. It reunites creator Winnie Holzman and actress Claire Danes, who haven’t worked together in a while. The show will be a one-hour drama centered around a complicated family, with Claire Danes in the starring role.

Recently, when questioned about the possibility of bringing back My So-Called Life in some form, creator Holzman mentioned a new project involving Claire Danes. While not a traditional reboot, she suggested a collaboration with Danes could be a similar experience for fans.

The Beast in Me is set to premiere on Netflix on Nov. 13.
