In the upcoming adventure titled “Clair Obscur: Expedition 33“, developed by Sandfall Interactive, there will be no mini-map available for gameplay.
As a gamer, I’ve come to understand that the reason behind this boils down to a straightforward explanation, as shared by our Chief Operating Officer, Francois Meurisse, in a chat with Eurogamer.
Using a mini-map might lead players into relying on it excessively. Instead, we aim for them to explore and discover the world in the same manner as the expedition does. Since all prior expeditions have failed, they don’t have a map available, making navigation challenging at times.
Later, Meurisse mentioned that Sandfall incorporated a compass into the game, subtly guiding you towards the correct path without diverting your attention from the immersive environment.
According to Meurisse, what’s new on the world map compared to the initial demo includes a compass, making it simpler to locate north and navigate overall. Additionally, it seems they are also incorporating an overworld map into the game.
The adventure of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is set to debut on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and personal computers on the 24th of April. Be sure to watch the new trailer below!
