Citadel: Diana gets release date, teaser, and more (Everything we know about the Prime Video series)

As a huge fan of the original “Citadel” series, I can hardly contain my excitement for the new spin-off, “Citadel: Diana.” Having been hooked since its debut in 2023, I’ve eagerly followed every twist and turn in the Citadel universe, created by the brilliant Russo Brothers. The high-stakes espionage, intricate plots, and action sequences have kept me on the edge of my seat.

The sphere of Citadel is set to broaden with the recent introduction of the new Citadel: Diana series. Catch a sneak preview of the Italian adaptation of the espionage saga!

In the year 2023, one of the most expensive productions with a budget of around $200 million, “Citadel,” was brought to life by the Russo Brothers, renowned for their work on “Avengers: Infinity War” and “Endgame,” as well as Netflix’s “The Gray Man.” This thrilling series is set in the future, in the year 2030. In this fictional world, a formidable intelligence agency called Citadel was annihilated by their enemies, Manticore. The remnants of Citadel’s survivors had their memories erased and were left clueless about their past lives until two individuals (Richard Madden and Priyanka Chopra) reconnected. Together, they embark on a mission to resist the relentless attacks of Manticore.

As a gamer, I’m thrilled to share that the show I’ve been following has been a massive hit, with a second season on the way! And here’s an exciting twist: there are plans to produce spinoffs in different countries. Prime Video is starting things off with “Citadel: Diana.” So, what can we expect from this new addition? For me, it means jumping into another intriguing world created by the same brilliant minds behind the original show. Can’t wait to explore!

When does Citadel: Diana premiere?

“Citadel: Diana,” a six-episode series, is slated to debut on Amazon Prime Video on October 10, 2024. The entire season will be available that day. Co-produced by Amazon MGM and Italy, this production looks poised to broaden the scope of “Citadel” and introduce thrilling twists to the spy genre.

What is the spy series about?

In this intriguing series, Diana (Matilda De Angelis) is the protagonist, once a Citadel agent who had successfully infiltrated Manticore. However, when a tragic event led to Citadel’s demise, Diana was left stranded among her enemies. Despite her desire to retaliate, she can only rely on one trustworthy ally – the son of Manticore’s Italian head. As Diana navigates through the conflict between Manticore and European crime families, she faces the challenge of discovering who to trust in this complex web of deceit and betrayal. Here is the official synopsis and teaser video for your viewing pleasure: [Synopsis and Teaser Video]

Milan, 2030: Eight years ago, the independent global spy agency Citadel was destroyed by the powerful enemy syndicate, Manticore. Since then, Diana Cavalieri (Matilda De Angelis), an undercover Citadel agent, is alone, trapped behind enemy lines as a mole in Manticore. When she finally sees a way out and the chance to disappear forever, the only way to do so is trusting the most unexpected ally, Edo Zani (Lorenzo Cervasio), the heir of Manticore Italy and son of the head of the Italian organization, Ettore Zani (Maurizio Lombardi), who’s vying for leadership against the other European families.

Lorenzo Cervasio’s portrayal of Edo, her loyal ally, adds depth and intrigue to the storyline. And Maurizio Lombardi as the menacing head of Italian Manticore, making power moves, is sure to leave audiences on the edge of their seats.
