Cillian Murphy is back in the horror genre with his new film, 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple, and it’s quickly becoming popular on Netflix.
Irish actor Cillian Murphy first gained recognition for his role as Jim in the 2002 film 28 Days Later, where he played a bike messenger who awakens from a coma to find London devastated by a deadly virus. While he wasn’t in the sequels 28 Weeks Later (2007) or 28 Years Later (2025), he recently reprised his role in 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple (2026).
The new movie 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple, now available on streaming, is currently the fourth most popular movie on Netflix in the U.S. as of today, April 3rd. It’s behind Anaconda (2025), Untold: The Death & Life of Lamar Odom, and Madagascar, but ahead of films like Minions: The Rise of Gru, Black and Blue, Clika, The Bad Guys 2, Lucy, and Bohemian Rhapsody.

Released just six months later in January, The Bone Temple only made $57.9 million worldwide, despite costing $63 million to produce.
