In the 2019 film directed and written by Luc Besson, Sasha Luss plays Anna Poliatova, a Soviet spy working undercover as a fashion model in Paris. When the CIA discovers her, she seemingly agrees to work for them as a double agent, but it’s unclear if she’s telling the truth.
The spy thriller, featuring Eddie Murphy as CIA agent Leonard Miller and Helen Mirren as his handler Olga, premieres tonight at 9pm on Film4. It will also be available to stream on Channel 4 after it airs.

According to *IndieWire*, the action sequences in *Anna* become predictable, and the main character’s seeming invulnerability feels like an easy way to avoid developing real strength. *The Globe and Mail* simply described the film as “uncompelling.”
According to *The Guardian*, the movie’s biggest flaw is how incredibly generic it is. This is evident in both the uninspired ways Anna carries out her killings and the director’s failure to create any truly exciting action sequences.
Even though critics weren’t impressed, the spy thriller was more popular with regular moviegoers. It currently has a user rating of 6.7 out of 10 on IMDb, based on over 105,000 reviews.
I just read a couple of reviews, and it sounds like this assassin movie is seriously action-packed – tons of fights, shootouts, and twists! One person called it groundbreaking, which is awesome. Another thought it was a really good time, but not quite a perfect film. Seems like it’s definitely worth checking out if you love action movies!

I was checking out what Channel 4’s streaming service has, and they’ve got a couple of good movies. I noticed they have *A Man Called Otto* and *Bridge of Spies*, both starring Tom Hanks, which I’m definitely adding to my watchlist. Also, I saw *The Double* with Richard Ayoade – that one looks like a really interesting psychological thriller too!
Anna airs at 9pm on Film4 before being added to Channel 4.
