Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man spoilers follow.
The highly anticipated Peaky Blinders movie, The Immortal Man, has arrived. Many fans wondered if it would ever happen, especially considering how the sixth season ended – a finale Cillian Murphy himself considered a fitting conclusion at the time.
Tommy Shelby’s final scene offers a much clearer resolution compared to the previous finale, and both Cillian Murphy and the show’s creator, Steven Knight, have discussed what it means.

If you’ve seen the film, you know that Tommy Shelby is now dead, shot by Duke at his own request.
The emotional scene may not have been a big deal to film, as Joe Murphy told Netflix’s Tudum they filmed it during the very first week of production.

I initially thought the scene would show Tommy being shot, with Duke holding him, but that didn’t feel right,” he explained. “Instead, they ended up embracing and leaning on each other, which formed a really striking image within the warehouse. It was a surprising turn of events.
Knight revealed that he knew how the movie would end from the beginning, specifically that the son would ultimately kill the father.
He explained that the line, “You’d do it for a horse,” is a nod to the season 2 episode 2 line, “I am a horse,” which he considers one of the best in the show’s history.

In the Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man podcast, Murphy clarified that it was essential for Tommy to die in the movie.
He explained, ‘It had to happen.’ Throughout the show, his character was essentially searching for peace and an escape. He finally achieves that, so the ending feels appropriate and natural.’
You can now watch Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man on Netflix. The show is also available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
The latest issue of Living Legends, a vibrant 100-page tribute to Harry Styles, is now available! You can find it at newsstands or purchase it online.
