Having grown up playing games like God of War and Assassin’s Creed, the thought of seeing this epic tale unfold on the big screen using groundbreaking IMAX technology is nothing short of a dream come true.
It’s been unveiled that acclaimed filmmaker Christopher Nolan is working on an enigmatic new venture – he plans to bring to life on screen a revered ancient Greek poem.
In October, it became known that the renowned director was preparing his next work following Oppenheimer. Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, Anne Hathaway, Lupita Nyong’o, and Charlize Theron have all agreed to be part of this upcoming project.
Following several months of keeping things under wraps, Universal Pictures has officially revealed on Twitter that the project carries the title “The Odyssey”, a cinematic interpretation of the 8th-century epic poem penned by Homer.

Christopher Nolan’s upcoming movie titled The Odyssey is a grand, mythic action adventure, captured globally using cutting-edge IMAX camera technology. This groundbreaking film adaptation of Homer’s timeless tale will be premiering on IMAX screens worldwide for the first time ever on July 17, 2026.
As a gamer embarking on an epic quest, I find myself in the shoes of Odysseus, the noble King of Ithaca, who’s been away for a decade due to the Trojan War. Now, I’m on my way home, and boy, has this journey been filled with encounters with legendary beasts! Every step I take is another challenge, but I’m driven by the longing to reunite with my beloved Penelope.
Although the title and content have been decided, the identities of the actors playing each character remain unclear. However, since Damon, who previously worked on Oppenheimer, is the first actor confirmed, it’s possible that he might be the main character in this project.
Actor Tom Holland, famously associated with his roles in the “Spider-Man” and “Uncharted” series, recently shared his feelings about being cast in “The Odyssey,” describing it as akin to the thrill he experienced when he found out he would portray Peter Parker within the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
When the moment arrived, it felt like receiving the call about Spider-Man ten years ago – an extraordinary experience for me! I’m incredibly proud and absolutely thrilled beyond words.
The Odyssey is scheduled to be released in cinemas on July 17, 2026.
