Christine McGuinness says JoJo Siwa shouldn’t ‘need to explain her sexuality’ amid Chris Hughes romance as she discusses her own sexual orientation

Christine McGuinness expressed that JoJo Siwa should not be required to elaborate on her sexuality following her announcement of dating her fellow Celebrity Big Brother participant, Chris Hughes.

Previously known as a lesbian, the 22-year-old American vocalist is currently in a relationship with Chris, who is 32 years old. On the ITV reality program, she described herself as identifying with the term ‘queer.’

Christine, aged 37, formerly married to Paddy McGuinness and with a history of dating females, expressed feelings similar to those held by JoJo.

In her podcast discussing relationships, she expressed: “Allow them to be. I’ve experienced something somewhat akin, not exactly the same.

In my fervent admiration for JoJo, I can’t help but feel a sense of protectiveness and empathy. It’s unfair that she, so young and vibrant, should find herself in a position where she feels compelled to clarify her personal identity. Everyone, including our beloved JoJo, is on their own journey of growth and discovery, free from the constraints of labels. Life is fluid, ever-changing, and I believe it’s essential to let JoJo navigate hers at her own pace, without the pressure or scrutiny that comes with explaining her sexuality to the world.

One advantage of growing up is having the freedom to alter your opinions whenever you wish. It seems that JoJo has consistently expressed her identity as a member of the LGBTQ+ community, using “queer” as a self-identifier.

She shows affection for whom she feels drawn to, and this isn’t strictly defined by gender. While I don’t personally identify with any specific label, this sentiment generally reflects my own feelings.

Christine wondered if some individuals could experience disappointment or disillusionment since JoJo is now involved romantically with a male partner.

Christine openly showed her annoyance due to her romantic affairs becoming public, given her high profile status.

She stated: ‘I believe, it’s none of anyone’s concern. It’s referred to as personal life for a purpose. People assume you’re under public scrutiny and we have the right to be informed about your activities. I’ve endured this for the past couple of years, and it’s not pleasant.’

Sexuality plays a significant role here, but ideally, it shouldn’t. Many individuals have connected through this aspect and are content with their bond, questioning whether it’s a friendship or a romantic relationship in the process.

In the year 2022, Christine and Paddy parted ways, having been married for a decade and eleven years. Despite their separation, they reside under one roof, their shared home, for the well-being of their three kids – the twins, Leo and Penelope, along with Felicity.

Previously, Christine had been associated with singer Chelcee Grimes; they were seen sharing a kiss following Christine’s separation from Paddy.

Regarding her sexuality, she expressed: “I’ve always been open about it. Not announcing it publicly doesn’t imply I was keeping it a secret. I’ve simply liked who I’ve liked. Kudos to [JoJo], they’re still young and exploring their identity.

Christine and Paddy finalised their divorce out of court last summer.

Last month, TopMob revealed Paddy had put their £6.5million Cheshire house up for sale.

After their divorce, the couple continued to reside in their shared home, but it seems that Christine began feeling weary of sharing a living space with Paddy, who appeared content with the ongoing arrangement.

Regarding our separation, Christine expressed then: “I haven’t discussed the causes of our divorce before, and I’m unsure if I ever will.

That period was quite challenging for us. It wasn’t a decision made hastily or one that we opted for lightly.

‘We tried, and, yeah, there just, unfortunately, there was no repairing it, you know?’

Before ultimately deciding to leave the show, the television personality openly shared that she hadn’t had much dating experience previously, implying that this journey on Celebs Go Dating would be a fresh and novel adventure for her.

She expressed her enthusiasm about joining the agency, mentioning that she’s looking forward to a fun-filled summer. She wonders what other surprises may come her way since she hasn’t had much dating experience in the past, making her feel like she’s jumping into a whirlwind of learning.

I’m excited about meeting the other famous personalities, and I’m particularly eager for the mentoring aspect of working with the agents. I believe this will be beneficial for my personal growth.

Christine found herself drawn to dating people of all genders, a change sparked by her deep connection with singer Chelcee.
