Christine Baranski clears up Mamma Mia 3 update – and fans will be disappointed

As a die-hard fan, I must admit my heart skipped a beat when I heard rumors about the upcoming “Mamma Mia!” sequel. However, it seems my excitement might have been premature as Christine Baranski, the delightful Rosie from the franchise, has clarified her earlier comments. Regrettably, it appears that the third film isn’t in active production just yet, which is certainly a blow to us eager fans.

Hey there fellow gamers! I wanted to drop a quick update – last year, I spilled the beans about catching up with the brilliant mind behind ‘Mamma Mia!’, Judy Craymer. We had a chat about the storyline for the next installment, can’t wait to see what she’s got in store for us!

Last year, Baranksi, portraying Tanya Chesham-Leigh in the movies, explained to RadioTimes that there hasn’t been an official go-ahead for a third film installment yet.

What to Read Next

Baranksi explained: “I haven’t heard about any new developments yet, but the last thing I mentioned became quite popular, it was merely a guesswork. However, I’m friends with Judy Craymer, the producer of Mamma Mia!, and she strongly desires to move forward with part three.

While everyone is eager for it, that doesn’t guarantee its production. To be honest, I can’t confirm a “Mamma Mia! 3,” but we certainly hope so.

Earlier on, Branski discussed a third film with The Hollywood Reporter, saying: “I was in London with Judy Craymer at our favorite pub. She is planning ‘Mamma Mia 3’. She shared the storyline of how it will unfold with me. That’s all I can reveal!

However, it’s not just a wishful thinking. Judy Craymer turns ideas into reality. She made the second one happen, which turned out to be a massive success. I have no doubt that she could reunite everyone again.

Way back in 2023, I myself dropped an update, hinting that the next chapter, the one we’ve been eagerly awaiting, will unfold. It’s still in its infantile stages, but rest assured, the journey continues!

In an interview with Variety, she stated: “That tale has potential, and I firmly believe Meryl Streep could reprise her role – and if the script hits the mark, I’m sure she’d be interested, given how much she enjoyed portraying Donna.
