I often receive messages from people struggling with their exes, saying things like, ‘How did you manage that?’ or ‘I could never be friendly with my ex.’ In my case, all four of us – myself, my boyfriend Chris, my ex Tarek, and his wife Heather – genuinely want a positive relationship, and we all put in the effort to achieve that.
Things haven’t always been smooth sailing. After their divorce, filming the show Flip or Flop was often tense, and there was even a heated argument on set where Tarek El Moussa yelled at his ex-wife. While Christina Haack and Heather Rae El Moussa seem to get along now, their relationship wasn’t always harmonious.
Haack explained that overcoming past difficulties was key to their current success.
Tarek and I are both good at moving on quickly from disagreements – we can usually resolve something and not dwell on it. I think that comes down to being mature and prioritizing our children, which makes everything else much easier.

You know, seeing Hudson grow up alongside my own kids has been such a joy. We’re at all the soccer games together, always end up sitting next to each other at school events, and celebrate birthdays as one big group. Honestly, it warms my heart – I can’t imagine him not having those shared experiences with us. It would have been really tough if he hadn’t had that connection.
It’s inspiring to see ex-couples demonstrate successful co-parenting, especially when their relationships began with a lot of conflict. We’ll be able to see more examples of this in Season 2 of The Flip Off, which is coming next year.
