Christian singer Stacie Orrico is suing Universal Music Group and her former manager, Britt Ham, claiming he sexually abused her when she was 14 years old.
According to court documents obtained by the Daily Mail, 39-year-old Orrico filed a lawsuit on Tuesday alleging that Ham began sexually touching her when she was 14 during Bible study. She claims this behavior continued and worsened over time.
Ham repeatedly told Orrico she had to keep their interactions private, fearing it would damage her reputation within her religious community.
In a statement to the Daily Mail, Orrico said she wasn’t protected as a child by those in the music industry.
After years of building her strength, she’s now prepared to advocate for young and vulnerable people who have experienced abuse within the music industry and the Church, as well as those who are currently being harmed.
The Daily Mail has reached out to Orrico and UMG for further statement.

Orrico says that in July 2001, she and Ham traveled to Los Angeles to rehearse for a concert.
Orrico alleged that Ham lured her to his hotel room at the Sofitel, where he forcibly kissed her and sexually assaulted her, culminating in ejaculation. She claims he touched her genitals and pressed his erect penis against her body.
Another instance of similar behavior occurred the month after, Orrico said in her legal filing.
Orrico testified that her previous manager engaged in sexual assault, specifically digitally penetrating her and rubbing his erect penis against her body until he ejaculated.
Orrico claimed in her court filing that Ham had intercourse with her in 2003, when she was 17.
In a court document, Orrico stated that executives at Electric and Music Industries (EMI), which was later bought by Universal Music Group (UMG), didn’t act to address issues involving her previous manager.
Orrico claimed in her court filing that she cut ties with Ham in March of 2004, when she was 18.
She said her musical career abruptly ended in 2007 when she departed ForeFront and Virgin Records.
Orrico reported that past sexual abuse led to significant emotional distress, including anxiety, panic attacks, and depression.

Honestly, it breaks my heart to hear about everything happening with Orrico. Her lawyer, Mo Hamoudi, put it perfectly – it’s just awful that someone so pure, with such a genuine faith and incredible gift, became a target. It’s not about protecting her; it’s about what others could gain from her talent, and that’s just… chilling. It feels like they saw a dollar sign instead of a little girl who just loves to sing for God.
Rather than protecting her, they let her suffer abuse as others profited, leaving her vulnerable to the worst aspects of their operation.
According to Micha Star Liberty, one of Orrico’s attorneys, the lawsuit is about the singer defending her younger self against an industry that publicly shamed and discarded her.
This is also for all the young artists who have been harmed by the adults and organizations meant to protect them.
