Chrissy Teigen talks about ‘polarizing’ friendship with Meghan Markle and why their kids don’t have playdates

Chrissy Teigen strongly supported her friend Meghan Markle, calling her “incredibly strong” in a recent interview with People magazine. Teigen said Markle is often “deeply misunderstood.”

The model and cookbook author, 39, shared how much she admires Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, 44, and expressed her sympathy for the intense public attention Meghan receives.

‘It is insane to me how polarizing she is for so many different people,’ the mother-of-four said.

She’s a genuinely kind and thoughtful person who always wants the best for everyone she cares about – her friends, family, partner, and children.

Teigen insists that Meghan Markle’s controversial actions weren’t done on purpose to gain attention or improve her public image.

Chrissy Teigen explained that her mother is a very straightforward person. People often overthink what her motivations are, but the truth is much simpler than they imagine.

Honestly, it’s like people just *want* to find what they’re already convinced of, you know? They latch onto anything that confirms what they believe and just…zoom in on that, ignoring everything else. It’s wild!

She added that people will inevitably create their own narratives, but she admires Meghan’s approach of simply stating her happiness and well-being and letting others say what they will.

Chrissy Teigen shared that her children – Luna, 9, Miles, 7, and her 2-year-old twins Esti and Wren – haven’t had playdates yet with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s children, Archie, 6, and Lilibet, 4.

Chrissy Teigen playfully admitted she rarely leaves home, then clarified she’s serious. She prefers to have photoshoots and other work done at her house whenever possible. However, she added that she *would* be willing to go out if absolutely necessary.

Chrissy Teigen’s remarks follow her recent appearance with Meghan Markle on the second season of her show, With Love, Meghan.

The couple reminisced about first meeting almost twenty years ago while working as briefcase models on the game show, Deal or No Deal.

In the latest episode of season two, released on Netflix Tuesday, Meghan talked about how she and Harry first met, referring to it as a connection from a previous chapter of her life.

The former actress remembered feeling very nervous during auditions in Hollywood. She said she would often develop a red, blotchy rash on her chest.

‘I just started auditioning in turtlenecks only. I was like, “Nothing to see here!”‘

Before Chrissy Teigen appeared on the show, Meghan shared how thrilled she was to reconnect, saying it had been nearly 20 years since they last saw each other.

‘I reached out and we reconnected just a couple years ago.’

Chrissy Teigen started her television career as a model on the original ‘Deal or No Deal’ in 2005 and 2006, appearing during the show’s initial pilot and first season. She later made another appearance on the show in season two, but in a different capacity.

You might be surprised to learn that Meghan Markle actually appeared on *Deal or No Deal* before becoming the Duchess! She was one of the models carrying the briefcases back in 2006 and 2007, and she was on the show for a good stretch – a total of 34 episodes, if you can believe it!

Meghan and Chrissy Teigen were reminiscing about first meeting on the set of ‘Deal or No Deal.’ Meghan said it feels like a lifetime ago, joking it must have been in another life.

Teigen shared that looking back, their life together has felt like a series of distinct phases, and that period was a particularly memorable and amusing one. She recalled feeling like she was always second choice – the understudy!

‘I remember having to stand in line to get our lashes on all in a row,’ Meghan recalled.

Chrissy Teigen recalled a funny moment from her past when, after a show, everyone removed their false eyelashes and collected them in a Ziploc bag. She jokingly asked if they were saving them for the next performance, reminiscing about how wild that time was.

Meghan reminisced about how different their lives are now compared to when they first started appearing on the game show twenty years ago.

Meghan shared how relieved she was to finally have health insurance. After she left the show, she was thrilled to see her friend become famous a year later, even commenting, ‘Wow, she’s on the cover of Sports Illustrated! Look how far we’ve both come!’ It really brought back memories for her.
