Chris Pratt is eviscerated on social media after vocalizing support for RFK Jr: ‘What a tone deaf a**hole’

Once more, Chris Pratt finds himself at the heart of a political uproar, and this time, the online community didn’t mince words about it.

During a recent interview on Bill Maher’s Club Random podcast, a prominent actor from Guardians of the Galaxy caused controversy by vigorously backing his relative in the role of Health and Human Services Secretary, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., leading to public uproar.

Although Pratt presented his comments as a call for bipartisan cooperation and rationality, critics on the internet swiftly alleged that he was justifying policies that negatively impact vulnerable groups.

On X (formerly Twitter), the reaction was swift and scathing.

The user expressed strong frustration: “It’s incredibly insensitive to find humor in reducing cancer research funding and letting go of skilled professionals, all for the sake of wealth accumulation among the wealthy, at the expense of those battling illness.

The critique gained widespread attention throughout the day, as an increasing number of people joined in to challenge the justification of Kennedy’s contentious views, a man known for being a father of four.

Some users linked the remarks to real-life repercussions, referencing funding reductions affecting medical studies, whereas others claimed Pratt’s statements symbolize a persistent series of political blunders.

Although Pratt repeatedly claimed that his statements aimed to emphasize common objectives, like lowering the amount of toxins in food, a significant number of people on the internet perceived his defense of RFK Jr. as irresponsible at the very least, and potentially detrimental.

One critic remarked that policy adjustments seldom take into account the real individuals who are affected by them, as demonstrated by how funding reductions at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) have already disrupted graduate students’ research endeavors.

The other user expressed it directly: “Let’s not be unkind towards Chris Pratt, as we are unaware of his political views.

A well-known actor from the A-list, known for advocating unity amidst politically tumultuous periods, is wed to actress Katherine Schwarzenegger. It’s interesting to note that she is linked to the Kennedys by marriage.

During an interview on Club Random, Pratt expressed to Bill Maher (a close friend of Kennedy and guest on both his TV show and podcast) that he appreciates certain aspects of the ‘MAHA’ plan and wishes him success with his endeavors.

As a devoted advocate, I’m keen on the aspects he oversees that appear to garner broad, bipartisan support – particularly the initiative to eliminate harmful, toxic substances from children’s food. I wholeheartedly believe this is commendable, and if such an effort continues, it would undoubtedly be a remarkable achievement.

He also mentions that he’s open to listening and giving Kennedy his due consideration during their interactions. Although he doesn’t blindly believe everything RFK Jr. says, he chooses not to harbor hatred towards the HHS Secretary.

It’s unpleasant for me to feel such intense dislike towards the president that any positive outcomes from his administration would provoke a negative reaction in me, as if I had an aversion or allergy. To put it casually, it’d be like saying, “I don’t want them to achieve anything because when they do, I’d rather spoil it myself. I’d even consider poisoning my own children’s breakfast with bleach.

Pratt expressed that it’s only reasonable to acknowledge some essential items, as he wishes for everyone involved to prosper.

Maher expressed his agreement that Kennedy was an exceptional individual, noting that he holds him in high regard but offered some suggestions for Kennedy’s work in Washington.

Maher expressed his affection for him, acknowledging there are differences in opinion, but he aligns with the broader perspective that harmful substances contribute significantly to our ill health.

When he was present, I suggested that the advice I gave you should be a blend of your past and present life. In your past, you were highly respected as an environmental attorney.

Even though Kennedy is often depicted in an exaggerated manner as a conspiracy theorist, Maher insists that he is no more unusual than anyone else.

Let me express it this way: He’s not just some eccentric character, oh no! When it comes to him, I stand firm. Just as I mentioned when we met, ‘I might not always share your views, and I can’t speak for his opinion on everything, but I truly believe that he would be incredibly proud of your unwavering resolve.’ That’s what I told the actor.

This individual is firmly convinced about certain beliefs, and no amount of incentives can change his mind. Sometimes this stubbornness is beneficial, while other times it may cause difficulties, as Maher noted.

On different occasions, Pratt has faced accusations for his actions that seem to alienate both his supporters and detractors by navigating the political spectrum in an unconventional manner.

Prior to the 2024 presidential election, where Donald Trump emerged victorious against Democrat candidate Kamala Harris, thus regaining the White House, Pratt authored an essay for Maria Shriver’s Sunday Paper.

In the run-up to the 2024 presidential elections, it was Donald Trump who defeated Kamala Harris, a Democrat, and subsequently reclaimed the presidency. During this period, Pratt wrote an essay for Maria Shriver’s weekly publication, The Sunday Paper.

In it, he urged Americans to remain proud of their country regardless of the election’s outcome.

It’s alright to take some time to heal after a loss. Feel free to shed a tear in front of a mirror if you need to,” he suggested. “However, if we let defeat immobilize us or victory inflate our egos, our loyalty to our team can make us forget that we are all fellow citizens.

The remarks drew considerable criticism for being shallow and ambiguous, particularly given that they followed Arnold Schwarzenegger’s passionate endorsement of Harris. Schwarzenegger had cautioned that another term for Trump would result in “four more years of empty promises.

Pratt’s attempts to present himself as above the political fray have often backfired.

In 2019, he was called out by Elliot Page for attending a church with alleged anti-LGBTQ ties.

Prior to the 2020 election, he gained the nickname “Hollywood’s Most Controversial Chris” online due to suspicions about his conservative political leanings. This label led to a significant amount of criticism, causing his Marvel co-stars such as Robert Downey Jr. and Mark Ruffalo to speak up in support of him.

In addition, he faced criticism in 2021 over a social media post congratulating the birth of his “vibrant” daughter with Schwarzenegger, which some perceived as being insensitive to his son Jack, who was born preterm and had health issues.

Later on, Pratt confessed that the backlash left him feeling utterly shattered and anxious about the possibility of his son discovering the controversy at some point in the future.

Or,

Afterwards, Pratt acknowledged that the fallout had left him devastated and worried that someday his child might encounter the controversy.
