Chris Pratt confirms MCU return ahead of new Avengers movies
It’s been confirmed by Chris Pratt that Star-Lord will make a comeback in the Marvel Cinematic Universe before the premiere of Avengers 5 and 6.
On Jimmy Kimmel Live, Pratt announced that his Guardians of the Galaxy character will reappear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but he didn’t specify the exact timeline for this return.
In the movie titled “Avengers: Doomsday,” Robert Downey Jr. reappears in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, this time portraying Victor Von Doom, better known as Doctor Doom.
Or, more conversationally:
The fifth Avengers film is called “Avengers: Doomsday.” In it, we see Robert Downey Jr. back in the Marvel Universe, but he’s not playing Iron Man this time; instead, he takes on the character of Victor Von Doom, who goes by Doctor Doom.
> Following the unexpected reveal at Marvel’s Comic-Con event last year, he commented, “A new role, but the challenge remains,” indicating his fondness for intricate character portrayals.
The Russo brothers will be back in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to direct both “Avengers: Doomsday” and “Avengers: Secret Wars”, having previously helmed 2018’s “Avengers: Infinity War” and 2019’s “Avengers: Endgame”.
Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame in 2018 and 2019 respectively, will be returning to work on two new Avengers movies called Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Additionally, the casts from “Captain America: Brave New World”, “The Fantastic Four”, and “Thunderbolts*” will all reappear in the upcoming films.
Given all the major announcements, it’s only natural for fans to wonder if Chris Pratt might show up, considering the ending of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. III hinted at his character’s comeback.
On the talk show, Kimmel inquired from Pratt, “Can you tell us about it? Is Star-Lord involved in this project?
As a fellow Marvel enthusiast and gamer, let me tell you I was part of the team who brought Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. III to life. In that epic adventure, you saw Star-Lord for the last time – but don’t worry, there was a vow that he’d be back!
Pratt assured, “That’s about all I can confirm, but rest assured, we’ll keep our word.” He joked, “There must be a Marvel sharpshooter lurking somewhere.
Although Pratt didn’t explicitly say if he’d reprise his role as Star-Lord in Avengers: Doomsday, the excitement is real because we can confidently say he will indeed return to the screen for us fans.
Avengers: Doomsday is released in cinemas on May 1, 2026.
