As a seasoned gamer with a penchant for diverse storylines and multilingual adventures, I can hardly contain my excitement about Chris Pine’s latest role in “The Kidnapping of Arabella.” Having traversed galaxies as Captain Kirk and wielded the Lasso of Truth as Steve Trevor, I’m now ready to dive into the Italian language cinema scene. The fact that this film marks a reunion with director Carolina Cavalli after their work on “Amanda” adds another layer of intrigue.
Actor Chris Pine, famous for roles in both “Star Trek” and “Wonder Woman”, has secured his first acting job in an Italian-language film, taking on the lead role in “The Kidnapping of Arabella” (Il rapimento di Arabella)).
The movie is a sequel by writer-director Carolina Cavalli, who previously made the film “Amanda”. This is also Thomas Pine’s initial venture into acting in an Italian-language production, as reported by Variety.
Under the genre of dramedy, the story in “The Kidnapping of Arabella” revolves around Holly, a young lady grappling with unease about her own identity, perceiving herself as an incorrect version. An unexpected encounter with a 7-year-old girl prompts Holly to reconsider her beliefs.

After appearing in the film ‘Amanda‘, actress Benedetta Porcaroli reconnected with Cavalli. In this production, she plays the character Holly, while Pine leads the cast in a yet-to-be-disclosed role.
As I chat with Variety post the recent announcement about “The Kidnapping of Arabella”, I can’t help but express my excitement for diving into my second feature film project!
In my perspective, there’s something truly heartening about individuals who are often alone finding solace in unity to tackle a challenge. This aspect of the narrative fills me with joy, and I’m eagerly looking forward to being part of it all, feeling incredibly thankful for this incredible opportunity.

Annamaria Morelli, CEO of The Apartment, who’s also a producer on the upcoming movie, stated: “Carolina’s second film fits perfectly with my plans for The Apartment. I intend to carry on our tradition of producing high-quality films featuring renowned Italian talents like Paolo Sorrentino and Luca Guadagnino, while also expanding into international co-productions and premier international intellectual properties.”
Currently, Pine, who is fluent in Spanish, has shared with the Spanish magazine Vanidades that he’s been having trouble distinguishing between Italian and Spanish due to their similarities.
The Kidnapping of Arabella is set to begin production this week in Northern Italy.
