Chris O’Dowd’s new Irish-set show gets first-look trailer
The trailer for “Small Town, Big Story,” a fresh, comedic drama from Sky, featuring Chris O’Dowd and set in Ireland, has been unveiled.
The actor known for roles in “The IT Crowd” and “Bridesmaids” is not only spearheading and overseeing direction of a six-part series, but also has a minor role within it.
The show’s leads are Mad Men‘s Christina Hendricks and House of the Dragon‘s Paddy Considine.
In the made-up, tranquil countryside village of Drumbán, the peaceful daily routines of its inhabitants are disrupted by the arrival of a massive television production crew.
However, their cultural collision isn’t solely what’s at play. In truth, there’s a deep-rooted history between Hendrick’s American producer Wendy and the town itself – and this is especially true for Considine’s character, Dr. Séamus, who happens to be a family man.
I penned this during the depths of lockdown, which I believe gave it an otherworldly quality. While filming another project in Canada, I found myself with the chance to write something, as I shared with Variety in October.”
This version aims to maintain the original’s essence while using more polite and professional language.
This is the unique instance when I’ve never experienced a sense of command. Instead, I found myself battling to stay alert so I could jot down all these ideas swirling in my mind. It was quite an exciting and engaging experience.
2025 marks the debut of the eighth and last season of yet another popular show by O’Dowd, the Netflix animated comedy series “Big Mouth”.
In 2023, when the announcement was made that the show was coming to an end, co-creator and star Nick Kroll shared with Deadline: “If someone had told teenage Nick Kroll and Andrew Goldberg that middle school would last for eight years, they would have thought, ‘That sounds just about right.’ It feels like it will never end.
Small Town, Big Story will premiere on Thursday, February 27 on Sky and NOW in the UK and Ireland.
