Chris O’Donnell shared that Rob Lowe openly talked about his time on *9-1-1: Lone Star*. Lowe really enjoyed being part of the show and encouraged O’Donnell to savor his own experience, telling him to simply “find joy in it.”
O’Donnell recently shared that Lowe gave him a fantastic pep talk about joining *9-1-1*. According to O’Donnell, Lowe absolutely loved his time on the show. “He told me what to expect and said he would have happily stayed on *9-1-1* forever,” O’Donnell explained. “He really enjoyed it and was sad to see it end.”
Lowe’s show, *9-1-1: Lone Star*, ran for five seasons on Fox, delivering 76 episodes of dramatic emergencies, both big and small. Lowe told O’Donnell to expect similar on-set experiences with *9-1-1: Nashville*. O’Donnell described how they’d arrive on set to incredibly chaotic emergency scenes and get to play the heroes. He added that dealing with those situations wasn’t something he typically experienced in his everyday life.
9-1-1: Nashville Is Procedural Drama with Southern Flavor
As a big fan of shows like *Lone Star*, I’d say *Nashville* really feels like *9-1-1*, but with a distinct Southern vibe. The actor playing Captain Don Hart, a seasoned firefighter and ex-rodeo rider, is perfect for this world. It makes sense, considering how the show loves throwing incredibly huge disasters at everyone. Apparently, things get wild! The actor even shared that he’s read scripts and thought, ‘No way, are they *really* going there?’ It sounds like they aren’t holding back on the action!
Just because Nash Bridges won’t be a regular part of the *Nashville* series doesn’t mean we won’t see Don Lowe or other former cast members make appearances. O’Donnell is also hoping for a crossover episode with *9-1-1* (Los Angeles) – he met the cast and said they were very friendly. He believes a crossover is likely and he’s eager to participate, jokingly suggesting they’ll need to figure out how fire departments in Nashville and Los Angeles could logically connect in a storyline, but trusting the writers to create something that works.
The show *9-1-1: Nashville* centers around family relationships and personal struggles. The Hart family is facing internal conflict, particularly between Don and his wife, Blythe. Blythe, who grew up wealthy, has a different perspective on life than Don, who is trying to balance her lifestyle with his more down-to-earth values. Things become even more challenging when Don’s son, Blue, whom he hasn’t seen in a while, arrives and offers to help during a crisis.
O’Donnell praised Blue’s introduction as both clever and humorous. He also noted that the reaction of Don’s son, Ryan (played by Michael Provost), was particularly strong. “It’s a lot for anyone to process,” O’Donnell explained, referring to Ryan’s anger and shock.
9-1-1: Nashville premieres on Oct. 9 on ABC.
