Chris Judd reveals how his mother’s brutal verdict in ‘uncomfortable’ chat pushed him to shave his head
As a lifestyle expert with extensive experience in personal transformation and self-expression, I find Chris Judd’s story truly inspiring. His journey from a reluctant shavee to proud bald icon is a testament to the power of honest feedback and the courage it takes to embrace change.
Chris Judd has revealed how his mother Lisa Engel’s brutal verdict prompted him to shave his head.
As a devoted admirer, I can’t help but marvel at the iconic bald look of the 40-year-old AFL star, a style he adopted some 20 years back by bidding goodbye to his luscious locks.
Initially, he was hesitant about undergoing a drastic hair makeover, preferring to retain his long hair. This changed only when his mother, Lisa, stepped in.
On The Front Bar, Chris shared an intriguing story about a conversation he had with Lisa. She had expressed her opinion that I should change my hairstyle after viewing photos from the 2006 AFL Grand Final, where she felt my hair looked rather thin. So, I took her advice and decided to shave my head.
He mentioned that approximately a week following the grand final, his mother had him sit down and pointed out a photo of him in the newspaper. She then expressed, “I believe it’s now time for you to shave your hair.” This was how she put her blunt opinion across.
At the front, it seemed a bit weak, but I think I could hold up for another year or two, truthfully.
When Sam Pang questioned Chris about not heeding his mother’s stern advice, Chris admitted that perhaps there was some truth to her harsh critique.
Having an awkward discussion can be tough. But if someone who values you enough to bring up a sensitive issue, there’s a good likelihood they are correct, he revealed.
Chris, being the husband of Queen WAG Rebecca Judd, playfully hinted that he might yet undergo a Turkish hair transplant procedure.
In the past few weeks, Chris publicly expressed his backing for footballer Ben Cousins during his attempt at a sporting return.
46-year-old Ben has advanced to the semi-finals on Dancing with the Stars, and Chris has expressed admiration for the athlete’s performance in the contest.
“Pete & Kymba from Mix94.5 were told by someone that Ben is doing an excellent job on ‘Dancing with the Stars,’ and they shared this sentiment earlier this month.”
In your football past, I noticed a hint of dancing moves, and it seemed like some effort was required at that time. It’s safe to assume that a similar amount of work might be needed now as well!
‘But in all seriousness to see you having so much fun and having a crack at something new. All the very best, hope it goes well!’
In response to Chris Judd’s remarks, Ben expressed his admiration by saying, “Chris is top-notch, we adore him. He’s truly an amazing person! I remember catching him dance once or twice when my own moves would occasionally get out of hand!”
Ben advanced to the semi-finals on Dancing with the Stars, but ultimately didn’t make it to the final round; he came very close, but fell just short.
Over the past few years, the athlete has been making a fresh start in life following a period of misfortune, and has chosen to participate in a reality dance show as a means to tackle a new endeavor.
He earlier shared with The Herald Sun that at present, he finds himself in a favorable state, ready to tackle fresh opportunities. Incidentally, something has surfaced, and for the first time in a while, he feels equipped to seize it.
‘This worked for where I was at mentally and wanting to throw myself into something.’
He acknowledged that the effort and dedication required to reach his current position hasn’t slipped his mind; quite the contrary, it’s something he continues to appreciate.
‘It is the long game… You don’t just do something and then all of a sudden it changes overnight.’
Ben won the Brownlow Medal in 2005 and captained the West Coast Eagles from 2001 to 2005, securing the club’s best and fairest awards four out of those season.
He played 238 games and booted 205 goals for the West Coast Eagles, where he won a premiership with the club in 2006.
His downfall, starting from 2007, was extensively recorded. During this period, he openly fought a drug addiction and dealt with the aftermath of his broken relationship with Maylea Tinecheff.
Later on, he was fired, served a one-year suspension from the Australian Football League due to multiple violations, and spent time in prison on six different occasions spanning a period of thirteen years.
