Chris Hemsworth’s wife Elsa Pataky reveals why their family live in Australia and not her home country
Elsa Pataky explains the reason behind her and husband Chris Hemsworth choosing to establish their lives in Australia instead of her homeland, Spain.
The actress, aged 48, residing in Byron Bay alongside the 41-year-old Thor actor and their trio of kids, had apprehensions about settling down in either of their native countries, as she was concerned it could potentially strain their relationship.
She informed realestate.com.au that she ensured he gave his word that we wouldn’t compel each other to reside in our respective countries due to the great distance between us.
However, when Chris showed his wife the beauty of the East Coast, it was love at first sight.
As I recount the events, let me share how I found myself enamored – it all began when he escorted me to the captivating lands of Australia. There, amidst the serene beauty of Byron Bay, I discovered a slice of heaven that stole my heart.

Elsa yearned for a life immersed in nature with many animals, and the expansive grasslands of Australia offered an ideal setting for such a lifestyle.
She mentioned that adjusting to city life in Madrid can be challenging if you’re used to living in a rural area surrounded by nature. It’s quite difficult for her.
Following a series of discussions, and with Chris assuring Elsa about the availability of horses, the family eventually chose to establish their home in Byron Bay. Since then, they’ve been enjoying their idyllic haven.
Previously, Elsa shared that she and her spouse chose a tranquil lifestyle over the busy environment of California by moving to the relaxed vibe of the Gold Coast.
In March, she shared with News Corp that her move to Australia alongside her husband Chris was primarily aimed at rediscovering a fresh outlook on life.
The couple found Los Angeles, where they were residing previously, too ‘restricting’.
‘When you’re in Los Angeles, work suffocates you,’ she said.
She mentioned that Byron Bay stood as a peaceful retreat, free from the persistent buzz of gossip that surrounds Hollywood, the City of Angels.

In that location, every discussion and street advertisements are centered around the realm of filmmaking and its related business, as she explained.
She continued: ‘It can make you lose perspective.’
Elsa and Chris purchased the 4.2 hectare estate in Byron Bay back in 2014.
Ever since I’ve become utterly smitten with their enchanting love story, I’ve been eagerly following every move they make. And let me tell you, what they’ve constructed on that land is nothing short of a marvel – a breathtaking, cutting-edge abode worth approximately $50 million, affectionately named ‘Fortress Hemsworth’ by the locals. It’s like a dream come true for any devoted fan like myself!
This high-end residence offers breathtaking vistas of the Pacific Ocean, accommodates six generously sized bedrooms, incorporates both indoor and outdoor fitness centers, features a media lounge, a wellness center with a spa, and surprisingly, includes a bowling alley as well.
