Chris Hemsworth’s Thor Sheds Muscles for Avengers: Doomsday
As a die-hard movie enthusiast, I can’t help but notice that Chris Hemsworth’s portrayal of Thor will have a fresh twist in “Avengers: Doomsday” compared to his role in “Thor: Love & Thunder.” Throughout the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), Thor has experienced quite a few transformations, from a noble Shakespearean hero to an overweight Viking. After reaching the lowest point of his health in “Avengers: Endgame,” Thor’s weight loss journey in “Love & Thunder” was nothing short of epic, leaving both him and Hemsworth more impressive than ever!
Luke Zocchi, Chris Hemsworth’s longtime personal trainer, who is currently training him for “Avengers: Doomsday,” recently spoke with The Independent. According to the PT, Hemsworth will not be as muscular next year when he returns for the MCU ensemble as he was in his 2022 solo outing, “Love & Thunder.” This decision to step back and be slightly less muscular in “Doomsday” represents an interesting shift in the portrayal of the God of Thunder.
The report mentioned that they’ve been focusing particularly on Hemsworth’s arms and shoulders for the upcoming Avengers 5, as it is expected to emphasize these body parts in his costume. In a similar vein to Thor’s appearance in Love & Thunder, but differing from his attire in Infinity War and Endgame (which included long-sleeved armor), it appears that Thor will sport a sleeveless look in Doomsday.
Chris Hemsworth subtly expressed his reluctance to regain such a massive physique following the demanding workout routine for Love & Thunder. In an interview, the MCU’s muscular star discussed the challenges of attaining that level of bulk and bearing that amount of weight in everyday life, particularly as he grows older.
In the upcoming movie titled “Avengers: Doomsday”, Chris Hemsworth’s character will carry on his frequent appearances in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This time, he’ll be accompanied by Robert Downey Jr., Anthony Mackie, Simu Liu, Letitia Wright, Sebastian Stan, and numerous others.
Why Is Thor Less Muscly in Avengers: Doomsday?
Given that Chris Hemsworth has been portraying Thor for 14 years and is now in his forties, it’s understandable why he might not be eager to undergo another intense workout regimen for the film “Avengers: Doomsday” since maintaining the physique required would take several months.
Although it’s not implied that the Australian actor isn’t in great shape in these workout photos, he is undeniably one of the strongest contenders for the most muscular stars in Avengers 5. If Marvel Studios plans to make Thor even more massive than Hemsworth can naturally be, it’s possible that they could enhance his physique using visual effects or prosthetics.
In Avengers 5, Chris Hemsworth’s muscular physique is expected to be prominently shown since his costume emphasizes his biceps and shoulder muscles. This suggests that his upcoming Asgardian hero attire might be sleeveless, similar to how it was in Love & Thunder, Ragnarok, and Age of Ultron.
In a narrative sense, Thor underwent rigorous physical training to shed the pounds gained during the Blip before the film Love & Thunder. As for the upcoming movie Doomsday, it’s reasonable to expect that Thor would be focusing more on his daily heroic duties, which might mean he won’t be as muscular as he was during his weight loss phase.
