New artwork for the upcoming movie Avengers: Doomsday shows a grim situation for the heroes. Set to be released in 2026, this will be one of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s biggest and most significant films yet. The movie will feature a large cast of heroes from across the MCU, including the X-Men, and there’s speculation that characters from other universes will also appear.
Marvel has revealed several cast members for the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday movie, and the first teaser suggests Chris Evans will reprise his role as Captain America. He’ll be joining fellow original Avenger Thor, who was previously confirmed to be in the film. However, even with these heroes teaming up, they may not be strong enough to defeat Doctor Doom.

Despite their combined strength, Doctor Doom emerges victorious.
Thor Will Play A Major Role In Avengers: Doomsday
Even though the artwork for Avengers: Doomsday isn’t official, it hints at an interesting storyline for Thor. Thor is expected to be a key character in the movie, which makes sense considering Chris Hemsworth has been one of the original Avengers in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This was recently confirmed when he was the first actor announced as part of the movie’s cast.
At a recent Disney event in Italy, the new lineup for Captain America’s Avengers team was shown. It’s already been confirmed that Sam Wilson will lead the team, with Joaquin Torres (the Falcon) by his side. Joining them will be Loki, Shang-Chi, Ant-Man, and Thor, played by Chris Hemsworth. This means Thor is officially a core member of the new Avengers.
Will The MCU Heroes Defeat Doctor Doom In Avengers: Doomsday?
Even though Doctor Doom will face off against Captain America’s Avengers, the former Thunderbolts team, the Fantastic Four, the original X-Men, and the warriors of Wakanda in Avengers: Doomsday, he’s expected to win – mirroring recent fan art. The logic is straightforward: after Robert Downey Jr.’s successful run as Iron Man, it would be a letdown to defeat Doctor Doom in just one film.
The directors of the next two Avengers films, the Russo Brothers, had Thanos win in Infinity War. In the comics, Doctor Doom gains powers that let him reshape reality, resulting in the creation of Battleworld and his transformation into God Emperor Doom. Because of this, I predict a similar outcome in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, where Thor and the other heroes will lose in Avengers: Doomsday.
