As a lifelong fan of Transformers, I must admit that my excitement for “Transformers One” has been steadily building ever since its announcement. Having grown up with the original cartoons and comics, the prospect of an origin story centered around Optimus Prime and Megatron was too tantalizing to resist.
Transformers One has received a strong Rotten Tomatoes rating following its first reviews.
In the forthcoming animated film, we’ll witness the beginnings of this franchise, delving into the past of Orion Pax, portrayed by Chris Hemsworth, and D-16, played by Brian Tyree Henry, both on their home planet Cybertron. Their journey takes us from a bond as comrades to a vow as adversaries.
Before its theater premiere scheduled for October 11th, the movie “Transformers One” is currently enjoying a high approval rating of 90% on the review platform Rotten Tomatoes, based on 39 reviews that have been compiled so far.
Here’s what some of the critics have been saying:
Empire
There’s a bit more depth to “Transformers One” than initially appears. Although its artistic style can be a bit jarring at times, the concepts it presents make it a worthwhile contribution to the series.
Variety
Although maintaining the thrill and enjoyment synonymous with Hasbro’s transforming robots, ‘Transformers One’ offers an intricate and thoughtful portrayal of its familiar characters, setting a new standard for the most detailed and complex representation of these figures on screen yet.
The Hollywood Reporter
Apart from the standard, loud action scenes, ‘Transformers: The First’ offers a plethora of clever jokes in both words and images, as well as real feelings. Take this as a series that has been rejuvenated.
Deadline
In a return to its original animated style, “Transformers One” delves deeper into human emotions compared to movies featuring human characters. By the end, it elicits a profound sense of the tragic opera that is Megatron’s fate.
Collider
This excursion is filled with enjoyable action and unexpected emotional depth, enriching the existing tales of Transformers. It stands independently as a compelling narrative on its own.
Screen Rant
You’ll find plenty to appreciate in this production – right from the engaging character interactions, heart-pounding action sequences, to the stunning visuals. The result is a captivating tale of origins.
Transformers One will be released in cinemas on October 11.
