Chris Hemsworth’s James Bond Ambitions Resurface Amid 007 Speculation
Chris Hemsworth is being eyed as a potential new James Bond.
The latest news suggests that the popular Australian actor might be contending for the renowned James Bond role, which has remained unfilled since 2021.
Ever since rumors about potential castings have been swirling around for quite some time now, it seems like I, an overly enthusiastic fan, can’t help but notice that my favorite actor, Chris (age 41), keeps popping up in these discussions once more.
In the midst of all the conversation, remarks made by the Extraction Star regarding its role from 2019 have once more become a topic of discussion.
Currently, Chris expressed his desire to portray James Bond once Daniel Craig retires from the role following Bond 25.
During conversation with Balance magazine, it was noted that Chris’s outstanding portrayal of British Formula One driver James Hunt had been highly praised. This led Chris to openly show his enthusiasm for the role, making him an ideal choice for the position.

He shared: ‘During the filming of Rush, someone mentioned something and I reacted, thinking, “Neat! If this moment is my tryout, then fantastic.”‘
It’s unlikely that you’ll find someone who wouldn’t jump at the chance to play James Bond, and honestly, I’d be thrilled if given the opportunity myself.
The information follows claims that James Bond will continue to be male, and will hail from Britain or a Commonwealth country.
007 enthusiasts worried that the integrity of the British superspy could be compromised when Amazon Studios, owned by billionaire Jeff Bezos, acquired the Bond franchise and its rights for £770 million from Barbara Broccoli and Michael G Wilson, who have traditionally overseen it.
However, The Mail on Sunday disclosed that Amazon recently distributed an internal document stating that the character of the spy, as depicted in their projects, won’t undergo a change in gender or nationality.
According to a source, numerous incorrect speculations have arisen regarding Bond’s future. However, Amazon remains dedicated to preserving the essence of Bond, which implies that he must either be British or from a Commonwealth country, and he must be a man.
Since they became the heads of Eon Productions, a British film company responsible for past James Bond movies, back in 1995, Ms. Broccoli and Mr. Wilson have been vigilantly maintaining the reputation of the iconic British hero.
Ms. Broccoli reportedly held firm on maintaining Bond’s British identity before agreeing to the sale. Eon Productions was established by her father and stepfather of Mr. Wilson, Albert ‘Cubby’ Broccoli, who acquired the movie rights for the martini-drinking, ladies’ man spy character from its creator, Ian Fleming, in 1961.

There have since been 25 Bond films, starting with 1962’s Dr No.
However, just last month, Ms. Broccoli, aged 64, and Mr. Wilson, aged 83, revealed that they had transferred the ownership of their creative rights to Amazon, led by Mr. Bezos, often likened to a Bond antagonist due to his baldness.
Critics argue that Amazon’s proposal for spin-off series centered around the origins of Miss Moneypenny, among others, could potentially damage the James Bond franchise.
And they feared Amazon would try to ‘wokeify’ Bond.
However, as per a source within Amazon, it’s known that Jeff has a deep affection for James Bond and is eager to explore how the franchise could evolve. Yet, there are specific elements he believes should remain inviolable in this process.
‘That’s why the memo went out this week, to reassure everyone.
As someone who values inclusivity and diversity, I’m open to exploring the idea that the upcoming James Bond could be portrayed by an actor of color. This is a topic worth considering and discussing further.
The last Bond film was 2021’s No Time To Die, starring Daniel Craig and Lea Seydoux.
