Chris Hemsworth has responded to a fan theory about Thor’s fate in Avengers: Doomsday.
In May, the actor shared a series of images on Instagram showcasing his stint as the God of Thunder, accompanied by a heartfelt message expressing gratitude towards his fans for their unwavering support.
This caused speculation among fans that Thor will perish during his upcoming Marvel film, with some interpreting the actor’s statement as a premature farewell.
It’s speculated that the movie might introduce a scenario where Thor dies early on, possibly paving the way for Doctor Doom to emerge as a formidable adversary. This strategy is reminiscent of how Thanos killed off Loki and Heimdall at the beginning of Infinity War, setting the stage for his villainy.
In a recent conversation with The Hollywood Reporter, Hemsworth clarified that his previous statement was widely misunderstood.

He clarified that he didn’t mean for it to happen this way.”
“He explained that his social media team had created some content with the intention of sharing it and expressing gratitude towards the fans. He approved of the idea, saying ‘cool,’ and moved on to do something else after they finalized it together.
Several individuals have inquired about it, and a member of our team expressed concern, saying, ‘It seems we may have given off the wrong vibe here.’
We didn’t need to handle any fallout or clean up; there wasn’t a situation that required it. However, small issues were given undue attention.
Initially, I had moved on to a new phase in this character’s story, which has significantly marked my professional journey. The video was essentially an expression of gratitude, but unfortunately, it seems to have been misunderstood and interpreted differently.

Additionally, he expressed his intention of riding a 40-foot wave in the second season of his National Geographic series, Limitless. However, the higher-ups at Disney (the owners of NatGeo and Marvel) refused, as they required him for Doomsday instead.
They did, however, let him scale a 650-foot dam instead.
The complete Avengers film series is currently available for streaming on Disney+. However, the release of “Doomsday” has been postponed to December 18, 2026.
