Okay, so Chris Hemsworth – you know, Thor – is now starring in this new crime drama called Kockroach. Apparently, another big actor was supposed to be the lead, but Hemsworth stepped in. Sounds pretty interesting, and I’m definitely checking it out!
According to Deadline, Chris Hemsworth will now star in the film, replacing Channing Tatum who had to leave due to a busy schedule. Hemsworth, known for his role in Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, will appear alongside Taron Egerton (Rocketman) and Zazie Beetz (Joker).
The new film, Kockroach, follows a mysterious newcomer who rises through the ranks of New York City’s criminal world, becoming a powerful and notorious crime boss in a city obsessed with power.
What to Read Next
This crime drama is directed by Matt Ross, who also directed Captain Fantastic, and is based on William Lashner’s 2007 novel. The screenplay is being written by Jonathan Ames, the author of the novel You Were Never Really Here, which was previously adapted into a film.
This isn’t the first time the movie’s cast has changed. Taron Egerton replaced Oscar Isaac back in October, also because of scheduling conflicts, and now Hemsworth has joined the project.

After Taron Egerton was cast, producer Andrew Lazar told Deadline he was thrilled to have him join the film, Kockroach, and work alongside Channing and Zazie in what he described as a new and exciting approach to gangster movies.
He also lauded the film’s creative team, stating that director Matt Ross’s exceptional talent will allow Kockroach to be as groundbreaking and impactful as classic films like Scarface and Goodfellas.

Although Kockroach isn’t out yet, Chris Hemsworth returns to the big screen after a two-year break in Crime 101, a thrilling heist movie with Halle Berry, Barry Keoghan, and Mark Ruffalo.
Bart Layton’s film stars Chris Hemsworth as Mike Davis, a famous thief who only commits crimes along the US 101 highway. While planning a new heist with an insurance broker, a detective begins to pursue him.
Kockroach has no release date yet. Crime 101 is released in UK cinemas on 11 February.
