Months before the news became public, a harmless comment from a family member accidentally let slip that Chris Evans was going to have a baby.
Four months before Chris and his wife, Alba Baptista, had their first child, Alba’s father, Luiz Baptista, made a comment that suggested their family was growing.
The couple hadn’t announced they were pregnant, but speculation started when Baptista responded to a fan post celebrating Father’s Day and acknowledging both Alba and Chris’ fathers with a suggestive comment.
‘Chris, your turn is coming!’ Luiz wrote on the post, which has since limited comments.
On Saturday in Massachusetts, Alba, age 28, welcomed her baby daughter, Alma Grace, at 1:27pm. This happy event happened just a few weeks after she and her partner celebrated their second wedding anniversary.
TMZ obtained a copy of the birth certificate, which shows the couple named their daughter using both of their last names. The Daily Mail has contacted representatives for Evans for comment, but has not received a response yet.
Recently, Evans has made several public appearances at movie premieres and other events, but Baptista has mostly stayed out of the spotlight.

Rumors of a romance between the actor and the Portuguese actress began in 2021, but they never confirmed they were engaged.
He shared with The Knot that he proposed to his wife in her native language, Portuguese. He spent the week learning how to say ‘Will you marry me?’ so he could ask her in Portuguese.
Evans practiced what he wanted to say in her language so much that he nearly gave away the surprise.
He remembered practicing it so often that he’d sometimes begin to say it without even thinking, like while he was making breakfast.
It’s like realizing a secret is about to be revealed – it’s not just a catchy tune stuck in your head, it means something’s going to be exposed.
Fortunately, he didn’t spoil the surprise.
He admitted he was very nervous while doing it, and worried he hadn’t done it correctly, though he still understood the material.
Though rumors of a romance began in 2021, the couple, who are 16 years apart in age, didn’t officially confirm their relationship until almost two years later.
In early 2023, the actor confirmed their relationship on Instagram by sharing a fun video of them playfully scaring each other at home.
In October 2023, just a month after their wedding, Evans shared details about the celebration at New York Comic Con.
‘It was really, really great. We kinda had two ceremonies,’ he recalled before explaining how they got married in both of their hometowns.
‘We had one on the East Coast. We did one in Portugal.’
He described both ceremonies as wonderful and beautiful, but also confessed that planning a wedding was a significant undertaking.
‘For those of you who are married, it takes a lot out of you,’ he confessed.
He said they were relaxing and looking forward to autumn, which he loves, after finishing a difficult period.
‘It’s, like, the best time of the year right now,’ he added.
‘Now we’re just relaxing and enjoying life and reflecting.’
Last year, when discussing growing their family, the Captain America actor said they were deciding whether to get a puppy or adopt an older dog.
It’s heartbreaking to see stories about older dogs finding homes after difficult lives, and that’s been on our minds as we’ve been making decisions.
The couple is still debating whether to get another dog, but haven’t made a decision yet. Even though Evans considers adopting Dodger eight years ago one of the best choices he ever made, they’re still on the fence.
Oh my gosh, he said we both just need a break, you guys! And then he talked about going to the animal shelter, like it’s a casual thing! But honestly, who are we kidding? He admitted it himself – we’d never just walk out of there without adopting at least one puppy! I just knew it! He’s perfect, and he loves dogs, it’s everything I ever wanted to hear!
There’s absolutely no chance we’d start something we wouldn’t finish. If we commit to this, we’re seeing it through to the end.
While shooting his 2017 film, Gifted, Evans rescued a dog named Dodger from an animal shelter. He says having Dodger has dramatically improved his life.
He’s a truly wonderful dog, and being around him instantly lifts your spirits. You can’t help but feel happy when he’s nearby, he said enthusiastically.
Bringing him into my life was a deeply meaningful experience. It felt like fate – I knew instantly when I saw him that he was meant to be part of my family.
‘Moving forward, I’ll only rescue dogs,’ Evans added. ‘That’s the new approach from now on.’
Evans first posted a video about meeting Dodger in 2021 for National Rescue Dog Day.
‘I was filming a movie in Savannah and the scene took place at a shelter,’ he recounted.
Evans said he hadn’t planned on getting a dog, but he fell in love the moment he saw him and knew he had to take him home.
