Chris Evans reveals sweet reason he skipped major premiere: “Some things you just can’t miss!”
Chris Evans shares a delightful explanation for why he chose not to attend the red carpet event for his forthcoming movie, “Honey Don’t!“.
Under the guidance of writer-director Ethan Coen, the film titled “Honey Don’t!” features Evans acting alongside Margaret Qualley, Aubrey Plaza, and Charlie Day. This dark comedy unfolds the story of a private investigator who becomes entangled in the mysteries surrounding a questionable church and a series of murders.
Before its broader launch towards the end of the year, the movie made its global debut at the 78th Cannes Film Festival on May 24th, even though Evans was absent from the premiere as he had other obligations previously scheduled.

On Instagram Stories (as reported by People), Evans shared that he was spending time celebrating his mother’s 70th birthday, stating “there are some events you simply can’t skip!”, expressing regret for not being able to join the “extraordinary cast and crew” at the festival.
In a fresh collaboration, Coen teamed up with his Drive-Away Dolls co-writer and spouse Tricia Cooke. The response to this production, titled Honey Don’t!, has been varied since its debut. As of now, it holds an approval rating of 60% based on 15 reviews on Rotten Tomatoes.
As a movie enthusiast, I must say that in my perspective, the film was considered to be a step up from its predecessor, Drive-Away Dolls, by The Hollywood Reporter, despite their acknowledgement of persistent “issues” within it. On the other hand, IndieWire found it to be an overwhelming letdown, labeling it as both disappointing and a squandered opportunity for the assembled talent.
The film received praise from Variety as they labeled it a “vibrant and humorous imitation of an escapist thriller”, whereas Mashable described it as a “fresh and invigorating heist” that was “seductive, absurd, and salacious”.
Apart from “Honey Don’t!”, another significant upcoming project for Evans is “Materialists”, a much-awaited romantic comedy directed by Celine Song. In this film, Evans will be sharing the screen with Dakota Johnson and Pedro Pascal.
The movie is based in New York City and revolves around an affluent social circle orchestrated by Lucy, a high-end matchmaker played by Johnson. However, complications arise when Lucy becomes entangled in a challenging romantic situation involving both a wealthy individual and a struggling actor who works as a waiter, forming a potentially damaging love triangle.
Honey Don’t comes out on August 22, whereas Materialists debuts in the U.S. on June 13 and globally on August 15.
The release date for Honey Don’t is set for August 22, while Materialists will first be available in the U.S. on June 13 and then worldwide on August 15.
