Chris Evans reveals Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson’s VERY generous act toward Red One crew members

As someone who has spent years working in the film industry, I must say that Dwayne ‘The Rock‘ Johnson is truly a remarkable individual, not only as a talented actor but also as a compassionate and generous human being. The story of his generosity towards the crew while filming Red One is nothing short of inspiring.

In a heartfelt acknowledgement, Chris Evans lauded Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson for his extraordinary kindness and generosity towards the cast and crew during the production of their latest film, Red One.

Speaking about collaborating with the renowned actor who was once a successful wrestler at age 52, Evans, aged 43, disclosed that this global figure excels in elevating spirits on the filming location.

As a lifestyle expert, I’d share it this way: “On movie sets, we have a unique tradition known as ‘Five-Dollar Friday’. Throughout the week, each crew member contributes a few dollars – usually $5 or $10 – into a communal pot. Each contribution earns us a raffle ticket. At the end of the day on Fridays, one lucky individual is randomly selected and wins a substantial sum, often reaching two thousand dollars.

Evans couldn’t help but be astounded by the unique way Johnson tossed the pot, a skill no other actor seems able to match.

In simpler terms, Captain America said, “As actors, we often express gratitude to the crew by saying things like ‘I’ll spill the pot’ or ‘I’ll add a bit of money here’, followed by ‘I’m not vying for it’. It’s just our way of thanking them every week.

However, unlike any other collaborator, Evans disclosed that Johnson unexpectedly increased the prize pool not just once, but tripled it every time they worked together.

The actor remembered a moment when the jackpot stood at 5,000; Johnson then boosted it up to an impressive 20,000. Subsequently, he kept adding more money to the pot several times for the benefit of his team.

According to Evans, Johnson nonchalantly proposed, “Oh, well if the pot is $5,000, let’s call it $20 instead,” and then continued to suggest higher amounts as the game went on. He even suggested a new pot of $40, and when someone got excited, he asked, “Shall we play again? How about $40 this time?”… I should clarify that the number indeed grew substantially, and Johnson had five or six names prepared for each increase.

Evans mentioned that the team was extremely enthusiastic about working with Johnson, noting that Johnson also puts in equal effort on their behalf.

Upon listening to Evans’ kind words, Johnson replied, “That’s wonderful! Our team is the foundation of our operation, and it’s important to treat them well.

Previously, it was calculated that Johnson distributed a total of $100,000 among different crew members on the film set in one day.

In April, allegations arose that Johnson frequently arrived up to eight hours late on the Red One set, forcing the film team to occasionally adapt their shooting schedule to accommodate him.

According to reports by The Wrap, his frequent lateness reportedly led to an additional $50 million being allocated to the movie’s budget, ultimately bringing the grand total to an astounding $250 million.

Johnson finally addressed those rumors this week during his interview with GQ magazine. 

Indeed, such occurrences aren’t unheard of, but what transpired was rather extraordinary. To put it mildly, it was quite astonishing – almost bewildering. It’s hard to find the right words, really, but ‘crazy’ and ‘ridiculous’ certainly come close. This is what I shared with the media outlet.

As a die-hard devotee, I can’t help but share this intriguing tidbit: Rumors swirled about The Wrap that our beloved star was consistently tardy, often keeping us waiting for an average of seven to eight hours each day! But here’s the shocker – he wasn’t just late, he also skipped entire days of production. This absenteeism had a significant impact on the budget, pushing it up by no less than eight figures!

One source told The Wrap, ‘It was an absolute catastrophe.’ Another added, ‘Dwayne Johnson really couldn’t care less.’ (This maintains the informal tone and keeps the message clear while avoiding offensive language.)

However, The Rock called the overall controversy ‘bulls***’ in the latest issue of GQ.

As an over-the-moon fan, let me express my wholehearted endorsement for Johnson. When it comes to the actor I’ve witnessed, compared to some inconsiderate and unreliable performances I’ve seen from other actors in various films, Johnson stands out as a breath of fresh air. He not only respects others’ time and energy, but his professionalism and predictability make him a true joy to work with.

‘I found Dwayne to be — we all know exactly what he’s going to do when he’s going to do it.’

It’s common knowledge that Dwayne usually worked out in the mornings before arriving on set. This is something that 43-year-old Chris has always been aware of.

The actor playing Captain America stated: “However, this is a matter that the producers, director, and their entire crew are well aware of. Therefore, it’s nothing unusual. I wouldn’t classify it as ‘late,’ but more like adhering to a prearranged schedule.

On some mornings, he arrives a bit late, but this is all according to the plan. The schedule has been adjusted to accommodate this, and everyone is aware of it, so he arrives at his designated time.

Jake Kasdan, the director of Red One, also supported Dwayne’s statements by saying that he was “always present on set without fail.

‘He has a lot going on. He can be late sometimes, but such is Hollywood — that’s the case with everybody. Honestly, I’ve made three big movies with him. I’ve never seen him be anything but great to every single person on the set.’

Previously in April, an Amazon MGM representative, being the movie production company involved, firmly dismissed the claims made in the initial article.

According to a studio representative, Dwayne Johnson and Seven Bucks Productions have been outstanding collaborators in the production of Red One – a movie that promises to delight viewers of various age groups during the upcoming holiday season.

Our testing results have been exceptionally robust, as evidenced by the positive response at CinemaCon, and it’s important to note that we wouldn’t have achieved this success without Dwayne’s consistent effort and backing throughout the process. Any speculation suggesting that our progress was due to him arriving late on set for seven-eight hours is not only preposterous but also untrue.

Two reliable insiders close to the production process also confirmed to the publication that Johnson’s tardiness did not exceed an hour on average.
